I'm not convinced Reef can be a defender. He did kick regular goals from limited TOG. There's a spot there for a "Mr Fix it" play anywhere type now that the hyphen has gone. If Reef was able to do that, he'd only have to play to his strengths then.
HBF is not the most challenging spot on the ground to play. A poor man’s ruck rover.

Could be worse.
Could be Carlton.

It is easy to forget because footy moves on quick
Yep you have to realise that loyalty is that two way street and Checkers deserves his pay day after battling away for years with us on probably lowish coin. Will not enjoy seeing him in a Dees strip but also think he will always remain a Pie in his own heart.

Made it to training today. A few quick thoughts…

TJ - has def put on size, almost to the point where it looks too much too soon. Can’t imagine the skin folds are great, and looked to be puffing a fair bit, so let’s hope he can get fit and run out games by the time the season starts.

Anderson - big lad. Looks primed, just the question on pace. If he can keep up with the game at AFL level, should be able to feature. Similar build to Beau, but an inch taller. I already have him ahead of HDM, as he has a nice kick on him.

HDM - just doesn’t look athletic enough for me. Think he will play a lot of VFL still. At the crossroads.

Swadling - has some mongrel about him. Needs to develop physically, but I like the competitiveness, and can obv find the pill.

Howes - kid has a v nice field kick on him. Was matching the mids in the target practice drill, but with nice penetration. Looks fit too. Hoping he can break through.

West - also looking v fit. Could we have our own Tredrea type player coming through..,., me hopes so

Prindable - looks fit, reliable, just not quick. Reminds me of Licca. Here’s hoping….

McInnes - looking fit. Not the best field kick - especially on his left; which will be the risk with him down back. Needs to squeeze in somewhere…

Perryman - beautiful kick.

Howe - bit more muscle than last year. Maybe a ploy to match the bigger bodies.

Pendles - same same. Keeps keeping on.

Crisp - also looked in good nick. Good skills.

Sidey - lean, same.

Allan - hasn’t put on any weight, but has dropped back in the fitness pecking order. Hmmm… not standing out as yet, which was a shame.

Will try and get to Fridays session to report more…

^Thanks!!

Haven't seen any training or kept up with updates.

Hopefully Houston is played as the main distributor coming out of the back line.

Daicos I'm assuming gets played midfield or wing?

Perryman to be played as a starting mid replacing Pendles?

Need to see more of Jaicos, McCreery and Perryman in the middle this year.

Houston is in rehab
Josh hasn’t even been training yet
Perryman think I’ve seen him in some mid drills
Howe confirmed pendles will spend time off half back

YES, please!!! Need to maximise our investment.
YES!!! Josh can be valuable in a number of roles but he's a terrific wing/mid.
Yes, but rotating with Pendles off the extended bench, maybe. (I don't see another significant role for SP10).

i like Jaicos at half back, the fact he can swing on to either leg makes us far less predictable when coming out of the backline

Having the white pickets upright and reinforced, ain’t it magnificent to have a multiple position player capable of turning games.

Significant role ? 🤣. Currently our second best midfielder, and number one maestro who conducts proceedings, soon as he went off injured early against the Lions in our last final , I turned to my niece and said , game over , season done and dusted .

Can’t park him in the garage and polish him yet. Has too much influence on those around him. That can change very quickly.
