Was labelled naive defending and it absolutely was. Was good a couple of seasons ago, not so much anymore.

No doubt. That's just the one that sticks in my mind for obvious reasons. He isn't the worst RB in the league but he isn't on the same level as Clyne atm. Not in my opinion anyway.
Rafael was one of the best rb's in thr league 2 seasons ago, last year and this year he has been injured too much, thats the only thing stopping him from being a world class rb.

And Nigel Pearson would be the best manager in the Premier League except he's lost too many times. That's the only thing stopping him from being world class though...

Anyway, I'm happy to continue the discussion but please move it to the United thread.

Terrible comparison.

If he'd said "Rafael is a good RB except he has a lot of poor games" then you could respond with that sort of comment. A player can be brilliant and be injured too much to show it and that's not cause to ridicule the statement.

Do any of his 'scoops' turn out to be true? Would love to see Pogba back, and it would be even more amusing to see him back in Manchester.

He is approximately 92% full of sh*t. Anything he gets right has usually already been reported elsewhere.

Some rumours overnight we will try and sign Mark Schwarzer on an emergency loan from Chelsea.

TBF Rafael pretty much won the game for your lot when we last played so that might be influencing your perception of him a bit perhaps?

I can't understand the lack of recognition for him though TBH, he can be prone to stupid fouling and rash tackling at times but at his best he is comfortably one of the best in the league amongst his position and we are an infinitely better team when he's in form. His injury issues often stop him from getting on a solid run of form to showcase his quality to opposition fans, but the last time he had a relatively injury free run two years a go he was easily one of the best full backs in the league.

Sorry if that was dragging the thread off topic, but in regards to Clyne I'm not interested personally. I rate him highly and think he is a better disciplined, and less injury prone player than Rafael, and is therefore perhaps a tad more consistent but Rafael has a much higher ceiling IMO and we are a much better side with him in.
