Crazy good business by Leicester if they get Defoe and Schwarzer in.

The only confusion I have about Schwarzer is why he left Fulham in the first place if he is now happy to go back to a small club like Leicester. I am almost convinced they would not have gone down if he'd stayed.

He did get to play in a Champions League semi final last season, it's those sorts of experiences and the chance of winning trophies that he's missed for most of his career and were probably the key motivation for him to join Chelsea.

I definitely rate Defoe. He'll get you 5-6 goals I reckon which is very valuable to a side like ours. He only left Spurs 12 months ago didn't he?

Well sure, but everyone thought he was moving to fund his retirement, and now he's moving back to a small club that's presumably not paying him a ton. Seems a really weird one.
Fair enough. He's basically been sacked from Toronto for being lazy. If he scores I'll be happy but he's a bit of a risk.

I thought it was because they have no money anymore and are basically having a fire sale?

Maybe that's why but the President came out and blasted him in the media. Its in the Guardian if you want a look.

Any club would blast a player keen on leaving though. I think the Palermo President blasted Hernandez who had stayed with them when they got relegated and was allowed to leave if he got them promoted which he did. You may be right though, I still think he'll be able to score goals for you, and will probably be more motivated in the PL than MLS.

United continue to be linked with Coleman for 25m. Good player but not a priority for United.

They have just used the archives & replaced "Baines" with "Coleman"

Yup it was a combination of this, the fact that he didn't want to relocate his family as well as gaining invaluable coaching experience at a top club.

Schwarzer left Fulham because he was going to be number 2 behind Stekelenburg and I guess he prefered to be number 2 behind Cech at a bigger club. I Imagine he's going to Leicester on a short-term deal to be Number 3 behind Hamer while Schmeicel recovers from injury.
Personally, I don't understand why any Premier League team would sign Defoe on a short-term deal or even on loan. He could barely get a kick in his final season at Spurs and he hasn't exactly played well in MLS. Apparently Toronto are now desperate to get rid of him to free up money to try and sign Gerrard.

How about these corkers from Express.co.uk

Chelsea to Sign Messi -

The Stamford Bridge outfit are expected to make an offer in the region of £200m, despite Mourinho's ongoing concerns over Financial Fair Play regulations.

"No I have no chance of that," The Portuguese has previously said on the speculation.

"Because at this moment there is Financial Fair Play and with the Financial Fair Play we have to follow certain rules, certain numbers and we obviously have no conditions to buy, as you say a ‘super amazing player’ paid with ‘super amazing numbers’ that Chelsea at this moment we cannot do."

But hey! The paper is saying they will anyway.....

And

http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/537844/Arsenal-Lars-Bender-Barcelona-Bayer-Leverkusen

ARSENAL are in danger of missing out on Bayer Leverkusen star Lars Bender after Barcelona joined the race for the midfielder's signature

However, Spanish media claims that Barcelona have thrown their hat in the ring as Xavi comes to the end of his career at the Nou Camp.

Luis Enrique is keen to strengthen his options in the centre of the park after letting Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song leave over the summer, and Bender could find the offer of playing in Catalonia more appealing than plying his trade at the Emirates.

Great idea, except for Barcelona being banned from signing players for 12 months....
