Not always true, these top clubs will set players buyouts ridiculously high just to discourage anyone attempting to sign them or to create an aura that their players are untouchable.

Barca put buyouts in all their players contracts. ie: Thomas Vermaelen's contract with them has an 80m euro buyout, I think they would probably accept less :D
Buyout clauses are mandatory in Spain.

In this inflated market Coutinho is a 60 - 70m player.

Further enhances the point, if they are there because they have to be it means clubs would be more likely to put unrealistic ones in there so they are not at risk of being triggered.

Was interested in who had the biggest ones and found that James Rodriguez had a 426m pound buyout in his Madrid contract, and was just (in theory) sold to Bayern for ~40m.

It's just that PSG still can pay for this and FFP means nothing anymore apparently

They had 200 million in funds for transfer for this window that they could use which would be in line with FFP regulations. They're trying to flog off Aurier, Jese, Hatem Ben Arfa, Krychowiak and Lucas and also why they sold Augustin (one of their biggest young talents) to RB Leipzig.

200 mil is supposed to be big

I read that they can get Neymar to pay the buyout himself to get around it, not sure how that works though.

Ander Herrera bought himself out at Bilbao to go to you guys, that was 30-40m euros was it his release clause?

It could happen, but geez Neymar is absolutely loaded if he could

Lol, you can't be serious?

Bernardo Silva, who is a better player, went for just over 60m (including add ons).

You mean the guy who got 8 goals and 11 assists in the bloody French league when Coutinho got 13 goals and 8 assists in England?

That reminds me, you always had a thing about taking digs at Coutinho, or is it trolling this time, too?

Haha genuinely meant to put 'arguably' in there tbf.

Still, I'm not sure it's that controversial to say that Coutinho is a 60-70m player. But, like I said I wouldn't expect Liverpool to sell him for that much.

Take Walker for example, he's a ~25m player and that's why we were happy to sell him for 50m.

What someone is willing to pay and what a team will accept and value/worth aren't the same thing. ie. Sissoko definitely wasn't worth 30m, but that's what we paid.

And I don't dislike Coutinho or think he's poor or anything like that. Just think he's overrated and somewhat of a 'MOTD player'.

Bernardo Silva has massive potential and could end up being a similar player to his namesake from Spain, but he's not as established as Coutinho yet imo

Considering inflation and his importance to Liverpool, Coutinho would probably be worth somewhere around a Lukaku/Bale/pogb fee, but looking at these stupid bids Liverpool are making on Keita too and what it would cost for them to get Keita out of there, if Barca came after Coutinho, I'd expect Liverpool to ask Barca for significantly more than whatever Keita costs.

Bit of backpedalling there, you said inflated market, not debating values of what team accepts and what they're worth. Coutinho's easily worth a Pogba fee and more if we're going by this market's standards, and he has output even more than Pogba in the league

Somehow I do not think you have an impartial opinion of Coutinho going by how much you keep going on about him being overrated

That's what it might take to get him out of Liverpool but that isn't the same as value. ie. It took 50m to get Walker from us but he sure as shit wasn't worth that.

Well I thought that was largely self explanatory.

As above, that's what it might take to get him out of the club but he's not worth that.

Wait, talking about Coutinho in the context of a conversation about Coutinho means I keep going on about him? :drunk:

You were talking about his value in the inflated market, not whatever you think he's actually worth. I merely pointed out that his output is beyond Pogba, and so it'd at least be equal to a Pogba fee or more, but then you go on about some guy who has worse stats in the French league being better than Coutinho.

If some shit like Walker is worth 50 mil then Coutinho is easily worth double in this market, not only 10 mil more like you think

Oh it isn't the first time you keep going on about Coutinho, remembered you comparing him to Bolasie at some point

A) Pogba and Coutinho play entirely different roles in their teams so measuring their 'output' in terms of goals and assists as I assume you've done is silly.
B) Silva is a lot younger and has a lot more upside.

Take off those rose-coloured glasses mate, 30 mill was being generous aswell, being fair because Liverpool rely on him so much.

I'd say the rose tinted glasses ain't on me but on those who has an obsession against all things Liverpool, and anyone who knows me around these parts knows I have anything but rose tinted glasses about my own club

If Coutinho isn't a Liverpool player you people would be going on about him like a pork chop. 30 mil, lol

You do the exact same thing to players of other clubs you peanut.
