The moral implications, the obvious links to Qatar, the number of people that have died as a result of preparation for the World Cup. I know it's relative, and I don't necessarily criticise them spending money that they obviously have. But if this deal ties in with WC2022 promotion then I wouldn't surprised to see questions asked about the morality of the deal and it's implications. It's distastefulWhy is it in bad taste if the people/club buying the player, can afford to do so? As with everything to do with football, I think it's all relative. PSG are backed with astronomical finances - why shouldn't they flex their financial muscle?
I get what you're saying but don't see why this one would be the one that breaks the camels back.
Get the feeling that this deal will affect a lot of other clubs. Barca looking to buy, PSG maybe looking to sell.
Could kickstart a big couple of weeks. Can't see Barca going into the season with what they've got. They'll want a big signing, as much as a statement as anything.
Sounds terrible.

the most important question though
would you rather one neymar or however many freddo frogs 222 million euros can get you?

There also has to come a point imo where there comes a, disenfranchisement, if you like, with football and sport in general on a large scale due to the money involved. Ironically, perhaps, not from the lower class in football mad countries and regions because of their obsession with the sport and the esteem in which they hold their idols. But I think there will be a point in the near future, maybe even as a result of this deal and it's relationship with Qatar 2022, where the media class will seriously question if this is something that can continue.
hes getting old. aurier will be his replacement if hes worth itPretty odd considering he was one of the best RBs in the league last season. You reckon LB should be looked at instead in your opinion?
Not so sure that it 'ruins the game' tbh. I think this kind of transcends football and could perhaps be used in a broader discussion that touches on inequality, distribution of wealth, perspective, the morality of sport etc.Totally correct. I don't think anyone would have a problem with Qatar spending a fortune on Neymar if they paid their migrant workforce correctly and looked after them. It is in extremely poor taste that they go out and fund a £200m pound move for a French football club to buy one player considering the appalling human rights situation in Qatar.
This sort of transfer ruins the game IMO and is disgraceful.
Completely agree that the money wouldn't be used for charitable causes or to lift people out of poverty if it wasn't going towards buying footballers, it probably would have been used to accrue even more wealth or for material gain or whateverYou hear that the money in the game is turning a lot of people away from the sport. It rarely does.
Long gone are the days footballers have second jobs,,or catch the train to the game wuth the fans.
And fair enough too. They are the best of the best and deserve to be rewarded. If it's not going in their pocket it's certainly not going towards building hospitals or rubbing out poverty which us the line that usually gets trotted out.
I remember when we signed Yaya and the same lines were trotted out. He (or we, can't remember which) got called the whore of football in a national newspaper because of his "obscene" wages. Hospitals, nurses, poverty was all talked about.
He's been worth every penny and more.
Excellent.jpegbarca have confirmed that neymar has asked to leave.
Poor bastard must be hard getting paid millions to play football travel the world and root anyone you desireNeymar just wants to go around hanging out with celebs and ******* hot chicks, like a lot of Brazilian footballers
So the move makes sense for him
Nice trollThe last CL they won was all Neymar. Suarez only scores junk time goals for them while Neymar has been their clutch player. He goes and kills it for Brazil too, giving performances Suarez and Messi only dream when they're not in a Barca shirt. Yet Messi gets a pay rise as usual, when someone takes the shine off him (see Pep, Alexis, Luis Enrique) they have to leave. Neymar deserves this move, he should be the highest paid player and the star of any team except Real Madrid. If only CR7 wasn't the best player in the world we could do a Figo
Much respect to Neymar. I hope all his dreams come true

Spot on. They sign players to make Messi look better like Andre Gomes, Turan, Rakitic and now Coutinho.Barca should be doing everything to keep Neymar but they bend for every Messi request even when it makes them a worse team
I disagree. People are being turned away from the game, real fans with real passion. But they are being replaced by the plastic, passionless type so foootball won't careYou hear that the money in the game is turning a lot of people away from the sport. It rarely does.

Gomes is gashSpot on. They sign players to make Messi look better like Andre Gomes, Turan, Rakitic and now Coutinho.
When I go to Stockport County games, you hear a lot from the punters down there that they couldn't care less for what is happening in the Premier League/Champions League etc.I disagree. I agree with some of that, but I've spoken to a lot of people who are disgusted with the money involved now. Whether that is enough to turn th m away from the game long term remains to be seen I guess thoughI agree that people are being turned away from the game. But not directly by transfer spending.
There is huge income in the game nowadays, spending is a consequence of that.
My opinion, more of the money in the game should be shared with the supporters in form of cheaper tickets. Fixturing, stewarding etc should be more fan friendly. You should be able to stand, you should be able to watch a game and drink a beer at the same time.
Lots of things driving people away from the game. I don't think transfer money is a big factor.
I'm surprised they didn't sign CR7 then.Spot on. They sign players to make Messi look better.
