If the chelseayouth Twitter account hadn't blocked me I'd be able to fetch a tweet they made, but essentially: only one goal had been scored by not-Giroud (Mount v Fulham I think) when Giroud was on the pitch this season.
I just find it crazy how often Werner was persisted with and fluffing chances and yet still hardly a sign of Tammy or Giroud. Crazy.

The goal in the Champions League final is exactly the reason though.
Werner attacks the space on the wing, drags Dias away and opens up the middle for Havertz to run into.

Werner also creates a lot more. 12 goals and 12 assists in all comps. 0 assists for Giroud, I think 4 for Tammy.

I understand they play different roles and particular games demand different players etc but he’s almost never coming on as a sub either.

It’s probably more a case of Tuchel being optimistic that Werner will eventually start banging them in rather than Werner’s form justifying a starting position.

But as Loonerty alluded to, Werner does open up defences with his runs. One thing he has been good at is getting into dangerous positions to score, so if he’s drawing a couple of defenders and creating space for others then he’s definitely offering some value to the team.

100%.
There was a clip of Pep before the final specifically noting Werner's ability to stretch the defence being one of the reasons Chelsea are difficult to play against.

In the final if it was Giroud instead of Werner, Dias would have been happy to let Giroud run into that channel and cover the space in the middle still.

I think the more pertinent question is what did Loons do to get blocked from the club youth account :D
It's not an official account, just a guy who keeps an eye on the youth stuff.

When we conceded a goal against... not sure who now actually. Maybe the goal vs Leicester in the league. Kovacic had lost the ball in midfield and Ihenacho scored after it. This guy posted "press resistant or something" about Kovacic. I replied saying "Bad mistake but this is a dumb comment".

Blocked.

Yeah again i understand that Werner offers something different to OG, but he’s not even coming off the bench if that’s not working but I’m sure it’s to attract a small fee for his transfer instead.

And yet you still want £40m+ for Abraham....

I don't think we'll get 40 for him.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's 30+ though. Marina is good at this.

Presume to replace Barkley here if true.

John Percy and Matt Law (Telegraph)
Fabrizio Romano (Sky Italy)
David Ornstein (Athletic)

All now saying going to Villa and will be done within hours. Good buy for them, did well to choose the bigger club.

Fair few tweets saying Dean Smith has more pulling power than Mikel Arteta ATM.

Surprised Norwich sold Buendia though, unless they basically promised he could go if he helped them get back to the Premier League I suppose.
