I reckon as long as he is at the club Dembele will kick up a stink something shocking. Barca need to pay him out and get rid of completely. U23 treatment works if there's a chance they come back into the fold but with his contract expiring there is no future for him.

I assume there is a plan to hit this upcoming summer transfer period like we did last summer, and we would have targets already set. Clearing out a lot of those wages will do that.

But in the meantime, we are down to a threadbare squad, which in these Covid times is especially risky.

I actually think Origi is a good player and wouldn't have minded him coming in and then we bought another striker in the summer. Origi would play Europa/Conference league and plenty of cup football.

But Arteta seems to be VERY picky about the players that come in. That in itself is a blessing and a curse.

The deal was he was going to go back on loan for the rest of the season anyway. Now we may end up just paying a small tribunal fee in the summer instead.

Not the end of the world. If he wants us and both clubs are happy with other elements of the deal I see no reason why a pre-agreement for him to move in July couldn't be arranged. Same outcome, he plays out the rest of the season with Fulham either way.
