We need 2 good ones per side so we can rotate. Tuchels relies heavily on his wingbacks being almost his main attacking threat. In the 6 games James and Chilwell played together we won all of them scoring 18 and conceding 1.

Plus he also played as a LCB a few times so that's handy too.

And if it means no more Alonso hell yeah, do it. The kid is quality.

Two good ones makes sense. Two 50m left backs not so much unless one of them can play on the right as an inverted RB when needed. Although for some reason you hardly ever see left footers playing at RB right footers playing at LB seems to happen quite a bit!

I guess if you watch us play and realise how important wingbacks are to our system you'd get it. We need quality in these spots every game(I guess theres 60 odd of them a season so 2 very good LWBs makes a heap of sense as 1 wouldn't play every game and we need to rotate) and thats not even thinking about Chilwell is coming off an ACL so he'll be nursed a lot this season.

We also need a quality RWB so we can rotate James too, we are desperate for depth in these spots and for us and Tuchels football we need 4 quality wingbacks, not 2.

Truthfully I'd be happy to give Ward the season and then re-evaluate from there for next season. He deserves a shot.

Same as us but our backup wingback purchases were Ramsay (4m) and Tsimikas (11m). I doubt Jurg would consider someone like Cucu unless Robbo was moving on.

I think our options at fullback are pretty decent and ideally suited in the backup role. Tsimikas is young enough to eventually take over from Robbo which is another bonus. I feel if we signed someone of the equivalent of Robbo they would both always want to play and this would affect the team negatively.

Ramsay is an exciting prospect also. Jurg obviously rates him as he was comfortable enough to sell Neco Williams as RB cover. Plus we can always play Joe Gomez there if needed and he is still only 25.

I guess thats part of playing at big clubs, you dont start every game. No different from our forwards, CMs, CBs etc
