The worlds greatest paper, The Daily Mail. If thats the case just ignore it. Its lies

They said that Bennayoun was going to Liverpool. You said they were lying. You were wrong.

They said that Ljungberg was on £80k a week. You said they were lying. You were wrong.

Daily Mail, more reliable than embers.

The Telegraph, now there's a right wing paper.

I, err, don't actually mind some of the Telegraph's columns. :o Especially the ones attacking Gordon Brown. :D

Technically the Times is a righty paper as well yet I read that all the time.

That's not very fair. :(

The Russian car industry is more reliable than Embers.

Does he still have the massive Carlos Valderrama fro?

Yep.

Good enough as a signing. You guys haven't made a ton of signings.

Top 8 finish should be the aim.

4 in just over a month with no outs is pretty good going to be honest.

Assuming we get a decent CM in before the window closes, we should finish top half easily.

Boro and Villa have agreed a fee of 5 million for Luke Young. A tidy 3 million profit in one season, but Young has been our best RB since John Craggs in the 70's, so a huge gamble by Southgate.

The rumour is that Hoyte from Arsenal will be his replacement.

:(

Wow, that is a bit of a shock. I don't particularly rate Young, but he was handy for Boro last season. Not sure Hoyte is an adequate replacement there.

A big shock and a mistake imho as he's a very good RB. I don't remember ever seeing Hoyte play so I've no idea if he's good but he is young and I think Southgate wants a team full of kids :) Being a fairly recent player it is probably a little easier for him to manage the younger players  possibly.

I rate Young and Shorey.

All you foreign loving w***ers can wank over your Moustachio's and your El Takemycockout's but these are both reliable/tidy full-backs, they're both reasonably young? and both players are decent going forward. realiable defenders, able to contribute in attack.

good signings Villa. (pending actually signing them)

From the Mirror;

West Ham are poised to sign France defender Gael Givet.

The centre-back, who has 13 caps, helped Marseille to third place in Ligue 1 last season, but the club have signed two new central defenders and will sell him for £1.75m.

Panathinaikos offered £1.35m and failed to meet the 26-year-old's wage demands and sources close to Givet say he favours a move to Upton Park.

Marseille president Pape Diouf said: "Panathinaikos have got closer to us in financial terms, but we haven't reached an agreement.

If you want a positive scouting report, I'd advise against watching Marseille vs. Liverpool in the last game of the CL Group Stage.

Shorey to Villa confirmed;

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Reading full-back Nicky Shorey on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

A host of clubs were believed to be keen on left-back Shorey, 27, following Reading's relegation last season.

Villa are also in talks with another England full-back, Luke Young, after agreeing a fee with Middlesbrough.

Middlesbrough are expected to make a profit on right-back Young, 29, who moved to the Riverside from Charlton for £2.5m last summer.

Young discussed personal terms on the move on Thursday and also underwent a medical.

Villa are looking good. If we (Spurs) don't get any more big signings before the start of the season I am going with Villa as the number one challange to the big four

Good man.

If we (Villa) don't get any more signings before the start of the season I think Tottenham will be most likely to break the big four/finish 5th.

The hate for your club is comical as its merely (poorly disguised) lustful jealousy.

I don't mind Spurs and assuming Ramos keeps it together I agree that they and Villa are the most likely to push the top sides. Everton might be having some money issues (as quite a few clubs are atm) going by their spending so they may drop a few places, though Moyes always does a good job.

btw why do you have Groucho Marx as an avatar :p

Boro - we have money now ;) Apparently we have 25mill.. so 16 on Moutinho (which Sporting want), 5 on Cana and 3 on Smith (Who I dont want).. is apparently the go at the moment. I just wish we'd sign someone so I didnt check websites as much as I am atm.

Can't believe we sold Young. Nice profit for a 29 year old (he was our oldest player) but he is the sort of player we need to keep at the club. Probably our third best player behind Downing and Wheater last year. After a shaky start he was ultra consistent.

Rumour is it was a bit more than the original 5 million quoted. Now they are saying anywhere from 5.5 - 9 million apparently. If it was anywhere near 9 million I'm not surprised they took the offer as that is a decent amount for a 29 year old rb. Who we replace him with is the important question.

I expect we'll bring in 2 possibly 3 players before the deadline most likely.
