-_-... Wow, Matthew Scarlett is EXTREMELY overrated in this case. Not being biased or anything here, but he was born in 1979... And he's being called the 'Best Backman ever'... That's the biggest ****ing joke I've ever heard, he's not even the best Backman in the AFL at the moment, even Dustin Fletcher is better than him. Why? Because he does absolutely nothing, sure, he punches the ball and stays on his lead but unlike other Geelong Stars like Ablett or Bartel, he DOES indeed make mistakes that are a complete embarressment. Watch Geelong vs Collingwood and you'll know he can put on an embarressing performance by tripping over players and clumsily walking up to Leon Davis when he's lining up. Hell even in the Grand Final, he resorted to tripping.
Now I know I'm going to get badly smashed by Geelong fanboys after posting this but anyway I see it, Matthew Scarlett is a 'decent' Backman, nowhere freaking near the best in the league but 'decent'. I will still take Travis Cloak to the Bulldogs any day, for he is young, and he's a forward, and the Dogs seriously need a forward to replace Will Minson. We also already have a Full Back who does an awesome job smashing people, destroying contests and showing good leadership sticking up for his teammates using the strength in his fists! And Lake actually knows when the enemy is lining up and he doesn't act like a wuss.
Matthew Scarlett is about 802 times the player Brian Lake is.
