Not sure if there is another thread on Troy or our draft prospects... am posting on iPhone.

Just heard Troy injured his knee again in the SANFL today. According to those on Twitter it didn't look good at all.

Shocking luck for the Menzel brothers over the past 12-18 months. If he has done his ACL, you would expect him to slide right down in the draft - would we take the risk on him if he's available with our first pick?

Fingers crossed Menzel MkII is ok and there's no doom and gloom around his draft prospects...

Watched the game and he has done something to his knee. The boundary rider said he heard Menzel say something "popped in his knee". He was playing well before that too

Thanks for the info, was the suspicion that it was an ACL?

Those two boys have an unbelievable amount of talent, I just hope their dodgy knees allow them to show it off.

Anytime you hear the words "Menzel and pop in the knee" together the mind just shudders
Hopefully young Troy comes through it okay and Wellsy takes a late round flyer on the lad

the medico on the sidelines was definitely testing for an acl. After the test was done he looked shattered so i'd bet he has done it. The Menzel family looks to have something wrong genetic with knee - reasonably common.

if it s the non lars knee then it is massive
if it is the lars knee not as bad

will drop to be in the 40s, at the earliest
will not be first round or early second, way too much risk

Before I even opened this thread, I thought I would be very hesitant to take him as chances are he would do his knee sooner rather later, so wasn't surprised to read it.

Sad reality is that the Menzel genes produce amazingly crap knees. I really don't know the ins and outs of knees, but if they are likely to just keep failing, then it would be a mighty big risk to take him with an early pick

It was the non-lars knee apparently. So that is four out of the four knees for the boys, at least no repaired knee has been reinjured, so maybe the repairs have made them stronger

I think I remember Dan said after he had his first one that the surgeon said the tunnel that his ACL passes through was a bit narrower than normal and that they opened it up as a part of the ACL op he went through, so would suggest it is something they will check/rectify with Troy if he has indeed done it again

I'd take him as a late pick or Rookie for sure. He can do his rehab with his brother. I feel terrible for the kid, hopefully he can still make a career out of football.

He will not get there. Would you take him at 15. He was rated top 5 , maybe 10. If we don't a team like Hawthorn will. They just park him and wait and hope.

Our second rounder you would think, its in the 30s, bourke our 3rd, caddy our ablett pick, walker upgraded

If he has indeed done a knee, there's no way you could take him at 15. Certainly looking like genetic issues with the Menzel knees, so hopefully Daniel doesn't have more trouble.

It will certainly shake up the draft order if true, he's a huge talent but could slide a long way if he's done a second knee.

For his sake I hope it's not the case, it was really sad seeing the look on Daniel's face when he did his, and we all wish the best for Troy and that he's not done that.

I just can't see a first round pick being used on someone with two knee reco's. They'd have to be a truely exceptional talent.

First of all, we are dealing with a perosn getting hurt. That is sad and tragic regardless of who they are. Best wishes for a speedy and successful recovery.

That said, I reckon a high 30's / low 40's pick would be worth it. Clearly has the skills but needs to get right.

Let him and Daniel work together. Magic would ensue for sure.

Not Round 1 or 2 however.....

GO catters

I would definitely pick him up with a second round pick. I don't think anyone will use their first rounder now, so with that in mind I'd be looking for a good inside mid with our first rounder and hope that young Troy slips down enough for us to draft him with our second round pick. I would HATE if someone like the Hawks got him though, as someone suggested previously.
