i get that this is a funny joke but the thawing of permafrost in arctic tundra releasing gargantuan amounts of methane is really probably not a good thing
Yeah, that'd pong a bit.

ok, why then would the right be actively de-funding climate research? why did abbott slash the CSIRO?I happen to know a little bit about multi-variate analysis and complex systems.
The idea that the science is settled and infallible is terribly flawed. That would suggest no further study is needed, which is nonsensical.
People who are into multi-millionaire hasbeens milking the cow with horrible renditions of their puerile heyday songs I'd say.So who's looking forward to Metallica?

The alarmist nonsense comes mainly from climate projections. Climate modeling can't accurately predict global temperatures 3 years from now, there's no chance any 80+ year predictions have any validity at all. It's just not possible to accurately predict all the variables in a complex system that we still don't understand. Even historical analysis of temperatures is unreliable, just look at the Michael Mann fiasco. It's actually difficult finding proper critical analysis of either side of the climate debate, instead we're left with arguments presented in silos.
Being able to smoke in bars turned me into a smoker in SE Asia. That and a pack costing $1.I've just got back from Japan, spent three weeks there, had an amazing time!
I went Tokyo, Osaka, Nara, Kyoto, Kobe, Himeji, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Hakone and then back to Tokyo
Highlights include Kyoto, the baseball in Hiroshima (best stadium in Japan), Golden Gai in Shinjuku Tokyo, amazing food (including spending about $250 on A5 wagyu beef in Kobe, yes really), Himeji castle, Fushimi Inari-taisha 4km hike, Super Potato in Akihabara (a store that had Super Nintendos and other old consoles in original packaging, it was a like a museum to me!) and riding the shinkansen
I didn't like the heat (I wouldn't go in August again), loud cicadas everywhere you went, not being able to find antiperspirant deodorant anywhere, the smoking in bars and restaurants, how much they charged for fruit, how much they charged for pizza and the lack of bins anywhere
I watched the Port v Freo game at my mate's house in Setagaya, he has a WatchAFL subscription. The only Aussie pub in Tokyo was Bar Quest in Roppongi (one of the sketchiest areas of Tokyo) and it was so sh*t! It was like Checkmates or Strats, but without the strippers, and they didn't show AFL, and there was shisha for some inexplicable reason
I'm already planning another trip there I loved it so much!

so you'd support a boost in funding towards climate research?
this is a laughable false equivalence.
on one side you have global scientific consensus
on the other you have faith based political arguments

The international scientific community accepts that increases in greenhouse gases due to human activity have been the dominant cause of observed global warming since the mid-20th century. Continued emissions of greenhouse gases will cause further warming and changes in all components of the climate system.
Our scientists use results from climate models that are based on established laws of physics. Confidence ratings for the projections are based on five lines of evidence:
why do you, some random guy on the internet, think you understand the science better than australia's peak scientific body?

Football club kicked off sportsgrounds over 'inappropriate behaviour'
A two-month independent investigation launched by the City of Marion into The Cove Football Club reveals complaints that some female netball players that share the same council-owned sportsground in Hallett Cove felt they were being sexually harassed.mobile.abc.net.au
