Re: 2 Upgrades for Rookies

Dave, I was under the impression that Jye was on the senior list, not the rookie list. Am I wrong?

Re: 2 Upgrades for Rookies

Why?

None of the rookies are anywhere near a seniors game, we have no need more it

With season ending injuries to Brown, Dick and Hunter I think it would useful to upgrade a rookie to cover our depth. But there is no point doing this unless the rookie is a chance to play in the seniors. I think Bolton could come in and play a role, the rest are way off it.

Hunter was also a rookie, so really we're down 2 spots, but I'm not sure if we're allowed to promote another rookie for the 2nd half of the year because of the Suns? But I agree with Opti, only upgrade a player if they're about to make a debut, it's wasted if they're not going to be used.

no need to upgrade unless they're ready for afl the next week. None are close.

just because there is a LTI doesn't mean we need to upgrade a rookie, there are 38-40 senior listed players afterall

Club should be using it as a carrot over the next four weeks - "we potentially have a spot available - show us why it should be you".

As others have said pointless to do now as is not required.

Bolton can't be too far away could he? Was impressive in the pre-season and the games on TV in the VFL has looked pretty good.

Also wasn't Scott Reed meant to be a star when he came who was close to being put on the senior list rather than a rookie NSW selection?

I say Reed is closer to De-Listing then the Senior List

I reckon Macnamara could come on for depth in the rucks, if Jolly's knee is giving him trouble and Leroy needs a rest, I can see Macnamra coming in to support Wood in the Leroy role and not being TOTALLY out of place, a bit like Setanta early on, looked a spud A LOT but every now and then did something athletic and spectacular... Not sure Macnamara will make it, but it would be nice to see him get a real AFL game.

ANd Bolton I reckon is another, not that he should crack out midfield or HFF, but if you decided to rest a few blokes, a run at AFL level would be great for his development I reckon, as he's not the type to drop his head.

It's not necessarily about wether we NEED them, its just a nice reward for effort and a chance for them to try and show if they have something more to offer at the level that they cant show at VFL.
