Had a couple of solid games for Centrals in the Reserves. He'd be a handy pick up.
Poor little bugger is back in Darwin...played for Southern Districts on the weekend...only has one real weakness...endurance which should be an easy fix in an elite program.

Brodie Lake

Medium midfielder/forward with electric speed and agility.....plays like Shane McAdam....brilliant overhead.

STRENGTHS:

  • Speed/agility
  • Athleticism
  • Overhead marking
  • Versatility
  • Tackling pressure

Fair enough - he may as well play up there until he gets a call up with a supplementary pick. If he's overlooked, I'd love to see him back at Centrals next season.

According to 7 News, Stengle was caught photographed or filmed taking an illicit substance
Sad for him. Sad for us. But a relief it was something like this as opposed to some things that come to mind.

He's one of the throng that do this and it's a sad indication of the times. He's known, so he was always going to be watched and was always going to get caught.

Had the world at his feet, but now...how many chances do you give a potential star? Me, I'm giving him one last chance because I love his football.

Sad when you have players that can't get into an AFL club and would do anything to play AFL.. Rowe tries 2-3? times to get drafted and finally Adelaide pick him up.

Meanwhile Stengle receive 2 warnings (probably more that haven't been released to the media/AFL) and he doesn't listen.

3 incidents in less than a year is enough for me.

If we must keep him on the list then he plays SANFL all year.

Not a lot of understanding here for a guy who seems to clearly have an addiction.

I mean the reality is yes his time with the club is likely done.

But I think everyone knows someone who has had alcohol or drug addictions causing major issues in their lives, so how about we feel some sympathy for the kid and hope he gets the help he needs. Lets hope the club sticks by him and gets him that help regardless of if he stays on the list or not.

He certainly needs the help... But does he want it, and further more does he want to work with it.

I agree we can't just cast him aside as such, and even if we do sack him I'd still suspect the club will help him organise the help he clearly needs.

I actually don't care at all that he buys or takes drugs. The first drink driving offence is by far the most serious.

What I do care about is that he was caught three times. That's pure idiocy. Unless this footage is from years ago, which I doubt, he should have learned his lesson after the first DUI offence.

Risking his career twice after that DUI by publicly buying drugs, and then being filmed taking drugs, is monumentally stupid.

He's not a good enough player to spend any serious effort going in to bat for him. Just fu** him off and bring someone else in his spot while we can. Someone that actually wants an AFL career

I dont care what he does either. But I want to know whether he is worth wasting a spot on our list for. The way he treats his body will add to/detract from his natural abilities. If he is the most talented person on earth, then he can still be great even if he treats his body like shit. If he is less talented, then he needs to treat his body like a holy ****ing temple and maybe, just maybe.... Stengle is slow, so for me that puts him in that second bracket for a start. On the plus side, treating his body like shit probably doesnt affect him as much as it might an athletically gifted person, but still.

For me one of the worsts thing is smoking, because it doesnt matter how talented you are, your body is a biological machine and smoking just limits the capability of the machine. I really couldnt give a **** if people smoke. I am a former smoker myself. But if my club is wasting a precious spot on the list on you and you arent Gary ****ing Ablett then dont ****ing smoke... I dont care about drink driving unless your an alcoholic. But it does indicate to me that you are not professional. Coke and smoking pot... well it depends how frequent, but again... its not a good sign... if you arent a ****ing superstar then I would rather we just stick to B-graders that are professsional.

Based on that... cut, cut, cut Stengle. He isnt good enough to get any more chances.

Edit: When i say i dont care about drink driving, I am talking about in terms of sacking you from my footy club. In terms of what I think of you as a human being, its the worst thing of the lot, because you put other people's lives at risk. The post above is purely about what is worse in terms of a list spot. Deliberate drink drivers are selfish ****ing campaigners. Worrall driving the morning after doesnt fit that category for mine.

I agree, he has to want to help before it'll do him much good.

But either way I feel bad for the kid.

Just trying to say that some of those with harsh words for him should maybe step back for a bit of perspective on what they're saying or how they're saying it.

What I heard was the club wanted both Crouch and Stengel gone after that as Nicks saw it as a slap in the face to his instructions to the players to keep in top shape over the off season.

I don't believe that because the club had clear intentions all year to move Brad Crouch. It wasn't just decided after the season concluded.

Not a lot of discussion of the problem that has been going on in the league for the last 20 years. So people are happy to throw a player that clearly has psychological issues on the scrap heap but turn a blind eye to the other half of the league including our club who are doing the exact same thing but are more discreet about it. Out of sight out of mind I guess. How bout the outrage club look at ways this problem could be dealt with by the league. The most important part in all this is his welfare and getting the lad some help. The club should be supporting him not making threats about delisting to appease the apricot slice hypocrites.

So you want him around a club full of young players? A rotten apple that is too dangerous to have at the club.

Reckon Richmond knew something when he was traded so easily.
They wouldn't have traded him if he played like Dustin Martin.

Not implying anything.

Yes actually, implying plenty.

Excellent post, this is a ******* obscene overreaction by people. The previous incidents I understand - but there is just not enough in this for me, to effectivelt ruin someones career and change the course of there life.

Seriously, do you not think the club has all the details whilst Seven is speculating?

Pretty sure the club has had a closer look than what Seven have. They are just after clicks so let’s wait to see what the club says in full.

We do have a responsibility to him. The club will need to work through this with him and the AFLPA. We most certainly should not just wash our hands of him. But in terms of the lad himself. Being in a high pressure AFL environment may not be best for him either. Also, giving him hundreds of thousands of dollars to snort up his nose is wrong too. Whatever money is left on his contract may need to go a long way for him or this guy may have a very sad future story regardless of what we do.

Three public incidents in 8 months. Has anybody other than Ben Cousins been in the news that much? This isnt normal anymore. Also, we have a responsibility to other young players on our list too. Stengle has already teamed up with one of our listed players to buy Coke, so its not like he isnt a risk if we keep him around the club.

Career done.

After the stuff I have heard about him recently it was only a matter of time before he was caught again.

It's a shame as he is a talent.

If you've been caught doing silly things 3 times in 8 months, then you've either got extremely bad luck or you're doing it so often you're bound to get caught.

I've heard this sort of thing about Tyson too, and all the dots are being joined.

I'm sure the families of all the new draftees would be feeling more than slightly concerned about the environment their kids are going into after the publicity surrounding Worrall's drink driving and Stengle's second drug incident. Honestly, we just can't take a trick. Just as the club was enjoying some real post draft positivity from the media and supporters the sh*t hits the fan again. The timing couldn't be worse...
