You're a 100% right mate. Just got off the phone to my brother in Victoria and told him as much. Absolute BS. Over hewre in the West you play the umpires too. Been going on far too long. Eagles only clawed our lead back thanks to dodgy decisions.

Ok so today was deplorable. You know it's real bad when opposition supporters are even saying we are getting reamed.

The best way to validate this is watch a non Carlton game. The standard of officiating is imo at an all time low.There needed to be an improvement in particular prior opportunity but it needed to be just a small adjustment for those times a player has taken possession takes a couple of steps and is dispossessed and the umpire waves play on.
Liam Ryan was a classic example today where he took possession tried to do something was tackled and the ball dropped out. That should be reward the tackler but the umpires wave play on and the offenders team gets a goal out of it.

it happens in most games. It’s makes it unwatchable a lot of the time.

This is exactly where I blew my lid tonight.

Not gonna pretend to be a blues supporter cause like most people I only support my own team but as anyone who has played a sport to a reasonable level don’t we just want to tap the other team/player on the shoulder and say “yep you were better well played..” Atm it feels like you have to pray to RNJesus that you will get the “lucky” 50/50 calls to go with your team actually being up up it on the night. Almost unwatchable tbh. Blues were up to it today. Umpiring ruined a good contest which is all you want to see as a neutral supporter. Has to be fixed or many will be disinterested sooner rather than later..

We really super need to invest in a super good clip editor and take it to the AFL. "ok, yep, I understand that interpretation, but can you explain why this exact situation was ruled differently".

Good teams like the Eagles always get a better run of it, that's just footy, same as NicNat rules are something you just learn to deal with, but the 180 difference on identical situations needs to be called out and called out hard.

I think my favourite was in the last when the ball was out on the full, Carlton kicked it inside 50 and the umpires call a conference and brought the ball back. The boundary umpire said I thought it was out on the full but I am not 100% sure it wasn't. Ok we will ball it in if your not 100% sure.

Meanwhile Liam Ryan can take 5 steps at pace and that isn't prior opportunity.

Even the way number 24 umpire said "play on" in the dying minute when Cripps was pushed under the ball clearly in the back in our 50 Was in a tone that suggest Cripps is milking for frees and basically Saying get on with it. Hate them!!!cripps just needs to channel this poor poor treatment and destroy the opposition...

Yup. Wanted to let them know their service itself was actually really good, but the standard of umpiring made the product unpalatable. I'm done with footy for the year, maybe longer. This game was a turning point for me. The game is broken and until it's fixed, I'm not wasting my energy on it.

Field umpires I can deal with. Rules and interpretation of rules is ****ed and they are just trying their best.

Boundary umpires are almost always a local crew. That reversal of the out on the full was blatant homerism

Club/Coach needs to have a HUGE public whinge, call it for what it is and be prepared to cop a fine/reprimand. Time we started standing up to the AFL like other clubs/coaches do.
