Imagine having one of our players on the line to stop the Hawthorn player getting a free jump at touching the footy. That's some top-shelf incompetence on our part. Off-topic, but worth pointing out I think.More incompetence. The umpire gall this a touched behind. Now we are getting goal umpires who cant interpret the bleeding obvious.
At least they called for a review for the reason why this system was introduced, for the absolute howlers. Not the 25 replays to see if a pinky touched the ball.

Watts was there with Stratton but it was 3 against 1 and Robbie and his man was about half way up the goal square if it dropped short. I think Jack didnt bother going for the Shepherd as he say it was all good.Imagine having one of our players on the line to stop the Hawthorn player getting a free jump at touching the footy. From the 16.27 a call from SA, goes thru his complaints on the game and then from 17.50 with Gerard saying it was a strangely umpired game and Gerard and King's comments finishing at 18.20

On AFL.com Brad Scott openly complaining ( again) of his team’s treatment by the umpires.
AgreeShhhhhhooooooo you might upset someone..... we live in a touchy feely wold now... Seriously what could go wrong if we did whinge! nothing works by keeping our mouth shut!
Agree
The umpiring was so obviously corrupt yesterday that i did something that i have never ever done in my 35 years of watching football...
i turned the game off half way through the last quarter when we were just 8 points down.
I just couldnt hack it anymore. It was there for all to see. There was no way in hell that Port were ever going to win that game. The umpires wouldnt have allowed it.
It was the most blatant display of cheating i can remember. The umps were giving them goals. Every time the whistle blew you just knew #freekickhawthorn was happening. Every time they marked or got a free i was dreading another 50
**** it im cooked
As soon as I heard Matthew Nichols umpire number 15 was doing our game I knew we would lose and get screwed doing it, he does it every time we have him.
I said to my wife at the time, perfectly positioned, his pnly reason to call a behind and go to the review was because he was hoping for a Hawks win.Someone needs to check his bank account.
How on earth can you call that a point in that position?
FARCICAL. He should never ever be allowed to goal umpire another AFL/VFL match in his life.

Yes. It’s clear the plan was for this to be a Hawks win.I said to my wife at the time, perfectly positioned, his pnly reason to call a behind and go to the review was because he was hoping for a Hawks win.

It started in the 1st quarter. Impey was caught cold in the centre of the ground, yet Nicholls calls a ball-up. From that very stoppage, the ball spills to Polec, who is tackled with no prior opportunity, ball is handballed/spills out at worst...HOLDING THE BALL.it almost has taken over from the North Melbourne game where it was 36-4 for the game or something like that.
has anyone investigated how long Nichols was camped inside the Hawks f50 during the last qtr yet? if not it needs to be done.
Of course its not incompetence. The AFL is a multi-billion dollar industry, are people really naive enough to think they leave a major part of their business to incompetent umpires? Just like we are now seeing with the banking royal commission, the AFL will be doing all sorts of "unconscionable" behaviours behind the scenes to suit their plans. It started in the 1st quarter. Impey was caught cold in the centre of the ground, yet Nicholls calls a ball-up. From that very stoppage, the ball spills to Polec, who is tackled with no prior opportunity, balls is handballed/spills out at worst...HOLDING THE BALL.
It happens far too regularly with Nicholls. Something stinks. I don't believe it's incompetence. If you're incompetent, you'll be equally incompetent.
I think the point is we can't do anything but whinge about umpiring, so apart from having a bitch about how corrupt the AFL is we need to focus on criticising what we could have done better. The umpires no doubt try to influence the result, but the aim is to be so good that the effect of the umpires' influence is negligible.i get sick of hearing that umpires dont influence the result and that we should win regardless of shit umpiring.
Yes we played shit.. but had the umpiring been fair instead of corrupt we would have won the game
4 goals from free kicks with 2 from rubbish 50 metre penalties that took them to easy goal scoring range
Had the game been officiated fairly we would have been an ugly 2-4 goal winner
