Roast Umpiring: Corruption or Incompetence, or both

Someone may have said it already but with Horne-Francis being a Victorian Villian, it adds to that spirit and free kick woes.

I think he got a few more good calls against the Saints but before that, he almost seemed to be pinned for not much.
He was called for holding the ball pretty much his first touch when he was clearly tackled completely around the neck. Anyone else that’s a free for, not against.
He was given a bit of time to get rid of it once where he was tackled by a second player after spinning out of the first. That would normally be holding the ball.

There were 2 occasions during the game when the commentators called a free kick to Port but they were both awarded to SK players.
Another occasion when JHF copped a double handed push in the back at the centre bounce followed seconds later a free given to SK.
I'd be checking the bank balances of those umps, it's mind boggling how anyone could be that incompetent, inept, useless and still collect a pay packet.

Please stop sharing this Muppet.

He doesn't deserve the reach for his s**t biased opinions.

Yeah unless he is willing to actually present his data tables that he is using to come to these conclusions or at the very least explain his background, its just a nonsense social media account with no more credibility than anybody else.

I could sign up a twitter account tomorrow called "AFLUmpireExpert" and post similar garbage.

The fact that he got so emotional over the Collingwood/Adelaide game shows he is probably a Magpies supporter in my opinion. It was umpired poorly yes, but not moreso than 20 or so other games this year, at least for the part that I watched.

Yeah, I remember that first one. I was like 'here we go again'.

I seemed to feel as the game went on the umpiring was a touch less bias towards the Hornet. Maybe they were just so impressed with him that they knew they were stifling this beast and let him go.

We will see next week if he gets the calls.

They also got stitched in the last quarter by not getting frees paid 90 times out of 100.
It's easy to say bad luck when it's a bad call here or there, but when they constantly get it wrong against the same side it's hard not to think that at the very least there's a natural bias or favouritism.

I get some players can rub up umps the wrong way, but when it's spread across the whole side it's hard to make sense of it.

Fawns goal in the last for an innocuous free 100m off the play?

I reckon the worst non giving of what should have definitely been a free I have seen this season was in the Freo v Hawks game in the 1st half tonight.

Freo player Lachie Schulz is standing under a high ball just outside their goal square.

1. he is smashed into by a much bigger hawk's player (Frost) from front on, who had to run 15-20 metres to make contact, was at least a metre off the ground when that contact was made, and for which he definitely braced himself including driving his right shoulder into the Freo player's unprotected upper body, ie it looked very much like a charge!

2. Frost's whole body then lands on top of a prostrate Schulz causing him more pain.

3. As Frost gets to his feet he uses his right boot on Schulz's chest to push him away and in the process just about delivered the coup de grace!

The scump's calls on all three incidents were play on, play on, and play on! o_Oo_Oo_O

After being checked over by trainers for a couple of minutes the Freo player eventually gets to his feet and leaves the ground looking very much the worse for wear and holding his right arm which looked like may have been broken.

In case anyone is interested JHF finished the day with 20 disposals including 17 kicks. This is slightly above his season average of 18.9.

Not bad for a 19 year old kid who some deluded North tossers think cannot play.

Back on topic we actually finished the day with more frees than the opposition.

haha been watching for last 3 or 4 minutes and saw us win 2 free kicks to 1, inc the one Hagen got 30m straight out and he goaled. Scully should have been paid one.
