Umpiring Rumour

I heard this rumour today from J. Fantasia's 1st cousin that one of the Crows' officials overheard a remark from a certain umpire after the Hawthorn game. Apparently the maggot in question said something along the lines that its finally good to see an interstate club come over to Melbourne and loose. The club is not making a report at this stage as it would be very hard to prove.

I think it wouldn't take a genius to figure out who the stinker is.

Anyone else heard this??????

Yeah, heard the rumour too. I have always wanted to see a breakdown of frees for & against each team by umpire. I reckon there are some umpires who are only biased against certain teams.

It would certainly explain the bizzare umpiring this week - how could the umps go from totally against the side to tottally for the side.

BTW, I was thinking about a new nickname for the umpires with the new strips - The Wiggles, or maybe just stick to (insert colour here) maggot.

Also, I think the AFL is going a bit over the top with the alternate umpire strips. They use them for some games despite the fact there's no need at all (Essendon v Kangaroos game example of this).

Certainly have heard it and it is ALLEGED (that's arse covering for you) that it was Goldstink!! Surprise surprise!!

The Crows have protested against Goldspink several times and have requested that he not be appointed to Crows games as they feel he is biased against them. It's hard to disagree with that feeling when you watch him in action (a la Hawthorn game).

As Cornesy pointed out, if the club doesnt pursue it; it'll just die a natural death.

Pretty difficult one to substantiate but it wouldnt surprise me in the least.

I guess umpires are paid on thier performance
I wonder how many are "paid" on thier performance if you get my meaning.

I heard that it was the emergency umpire who made the comments.

In fact if you take it up with the aflua you would get your answer on who it was and why they did it.

I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell of the umpires association responding to any query as to who it was and why they did it. You should know by now that umpires are never accountable to anybody.

They will answer any query about any umpire. I have got contacts with the AFLUA.
