I've been working on an assignment all day so I've been at the desk with the radio stuck on SEN (maybe that was my mistake), and I heard call after call and 'expert' after 'expert' say that Collingwood are a great chance because we have too many players under 100% or that we are a touch to old.

WTF! Surely they can't be serious..

Otto has played three weeks now and up against Sandilands (just announced AA Ruckman) in his first game back dominated the ruck.

Kelly has come back looking like he hasn't missed a beat.

Chappy is fine and if there was any soreness/tightness the week off is a god send

The only legit question mark will be SJ and by all account its all going to plan which is nothing considering the pies are looking at bringing in a guy with a broken leg and Fraser who is still injured himself.

On to the aging list.. if we had won the flag last year we would be white hot favorites to win it, to say that we have to many 'old legs' is a weak excuse.

To me it just smells of fear and Collingwood supporters/Media 'experts' clutching at straw to give them a chance.

Am I way off the mark here? Let me know please because my blood was boiling at times..

They also said poor kicking cost Collingwood last time we played. Geelong had 2 more scoring shots that night, and kicked 1.5 in the third term to allow Collingwood to come back into it.

I think we have played it well in the media (so far). We are flying nicely under the radar. Both dogs and pies have had all the hype.

Only voice from the cats has been from Thompson, and only because he has to officially. HS had SJ on the back page yet the they had to quote channel 9 for a comment from the man himself. Collingwood players have been chirping up at every opportunity, let them do the talking and we'll come to play thanks.

Don't worry. SEN are just muppets sometimes. More crap has been spewed from them lately than a poo farm.
And winty is right, how the hell is it physically possibly that a player could come back up two weeks after cracking his fibula? Reminds me of a Simpsons episode when Homer got shot with a Cannon Ball and didn't even get hurt!
Two weeks ago Collingwood were being totally written off after a terrible performance against St. Kilda. Next week, they luckily wobble over the line against Adelaide and now they are suddenly every chance to beat us?!

'we match well against them' - Heath Shaw said this week but it seems every team says that ;) Slightly aging but we have good young players now also.

This crap always happens, the media spend the week leading up to the game beating up the underdog.
I'm sure the pies and the dogs themselves would be under no illusions about the task themselves however.

I think the less the GFC and its reps say the better. Just makes them sweat - I've noticed the saints are playing it the same way.

Beware the hungry cat if we make the grand final no way will we let this one slip by(did i hear somewhere Hawkins won the army award? if so not much publicity

The more Collingwood players talk themselves up this week, the more I like it :thumbsu:

The tenth time I hear a player say that they are 'confident that we can beat Geelong', the more I think that they are just repeating the phrase to themselves in the hope that they will actually convince themselves that it is true.

Heath Shaw! LOL @ that clown! Who would take anything he says seriously? He lied to his own club about a driving incident involving him and Didak as the passanger! If he seriously thought that the club wouldn't find out then it doesn't surpirse me that he's stupid enough to think that an underdone Collingwood side coming off one of the hardest fought contests this season in 30 degree heat will beat Geelong!

Like Rodney Eade's comments last week about similar comments from Voss about all the pressure being on the Dogs - Rocket reckons he knew they'd win when Brisbane started making those comments - look what happened. Keep talking yourselves up Wobblies!

Reminds me a bit of us leading into the 2004 Prelim, and Leigh Matthews saying that we were like a bunch of kids about to enter a haunted house and trying to convince themselves they weren't scared.

I guess if they say it often enough they might just believe it, but it doesn't mean it's the truth.

Same story from the Doggies in the week before our final with them. But did you see their faces as they came down the tunnel - they were crapping themselves!

after reading matlhouses commentsand listening to what the media and collingwood supporters are saying i have even become more confident. It almost as if they are saying were not good enough to beat you ,we need you to fall over

Spot on. They played a sound bite from Malthouse's press conference after the Round 3 game on Footy Classified last night, and he said "If we play at our best, and Geelong play at their best, Geelong will win, as they're better than us." Sounds like he's trying to take a leaf out of Choco's book pre grand final '07 and try to plant a seed of doubt in our minds. Didn't work back then, and I don't think it'll work this week either.

agreed, while we have looked underdone in previous weeks the week off is capable of working wonders. ottens, chapman, johnson and rooke will all benefit enourmosly from the week off, and collingwood is coming off a tough game against adelaide.
micks comments on saturday where shameful, always respected him, thought excuses and smalltalk where more hawthorns game, but apparently not.
