Was rubbish for their third goal but outside of that one goal he individually hasn't been at fault for any goals from my recollection. The issue stems from the players around him compensating for him and not trusting him. We are dropping deeper, we aren't playing with as much purpose when playing out in the event we turn it over and he has to make a recovery tackle. Partey is basically playing a fourth centre back in the build up, the team structure is all over the place.

It stings a shitload, but we have to remain positive. This is a bunch of kids taking it to the best PL team since Chelsea '05. City's squad is thick but there's significant emotion attached to the Champions League for Pep & them - that for me leaves open the possibility for some twists/turns in the title race. They still have 8 matches to play. Sure, we've slipped up thrice in a fortnight and such a series of mishaps renders us undeserving. The fact it's still technically in our hands goes to show how brilliant we've been this season. I was too young in 2003. 2008 killed me and 2011 was truly painful. I don't think I'll look back on this season with anything but joy..

Call it erring on toxic positivity , whatever. I'm ******* proud of this team, this manager & this club. I wanted Arteta, Edu and half these players out of Arsenal a mere 18 months ago. What a ******* turnaround it has been. We're at the genesis of a special era for the Arsenal, and that alone is worth being upbeat about.

The great thing is, once the final whistle blows at the Etihad next week we'll know our fate. A loss or draw means in May I'll better focus on my work, spend more quality time with the wife, and regrow the hair I've torn out. ;)
Nicely said.

Win lose or whatever... I just want us to make it as hard for city as we can... And let's see where we end up...

Yeah, Holding isn't deserving of the whipping boy status. I've loved what Partey and Zinchenko have given us this season, but their turnovers in midfield would crucify any defence. Too many soft goals from turnovers in our last three games, and if we're gonna be honest, it's been present in our game since the turn of the year. We're not taking care of the ball. And when our possesion game is based on one-touch speed, being slightly off (as we have been since back against Sporting) means we're vulnerable.

Still... the equation remains simple. Beat City Thursday morning.

Just as an aside - just read about Leah Williamson's ACL injury. Really feel for the Arsenal women's team. Mead, Miedema and now Williamson all with ACLs. That's tantamount to us losing Saliba, Saka and Odegaard. They would've given the women's title a real shake if those girls had stayed fit.

Still trying to get my head around what I just watched. Am still a bit all over the shop.

- at similar times in the last few years our seasons have largely collapsed from the absence of a LB. The squad has improved significantly since however cannot deny we haven’t coped with the loss of Saliba. The Saliba Tomiyasu double blow is the real killer.

- I can’t fault Holding’s effort and commitment etc. It’s no slight on him to say that the style of play has evolved beyond his capabilities. Much like it had to the likes of Cedric before him and one could argue the same with Tierney this season.

- we are still a few windows away from having that “plug and play” approach City has. Where someone else can slot in with the absence of a key player and not experience such a considerable level of the team’s rhythm.

- 7 goals in 3 games. 3 points from 9 available. At least this run isn’t as bad as the corresponding time last season where we lost matches in clusters. We’ve salvaged draws at least and who knows, these could be priceless points banked. But will only know that at the end of the season

- I prefer to see the positives and tend to stay away from hammering individuals. Partey it must be said has picked a bad time to have two of his worst performances in an Arsenal shirt this last week. Zinchenko very poor on that third goal. He literally saw him and pointed him out before the corner, but then didn’t even compete for that ball on the back post. Jesus missed some critical chances too.

- there’s every chance this Arsenal side come out and win at City after 3 consecutive draws and disappointing results. Same thing happened last season where we went to the bridge and out of nowhere conjured a 4-2 win to reignite the season. The stakes are obviously ridiculously higher now. But maybe eliminating the draw from our minds and needing to approach it like a genuine Cup final could play into our hands.

I’m going to be a ****ing nervous wreck Thursday morning.

Heartbreaking. Can’t see us winning it from here. Still grateful for this season however, only a couple seasons ago I was unsure if we’d ever get back to the top. After this season I think we can all agree we trust this process, and that we’ll be lifting that trophy in no time. There’s moments from this season I’ll never forget, Reiss’s last minute goal, Jorginho goal and more.

We’ve gone from finishing 5th, to essentially playing in a grand final on Thursday morning, that’s some serious improvement. It’s not over til it’s over, but whatever happens this season has been a fun ride, and I just ****ing love this club.

Disappointing to be in the position we are in, considering the position we were in. But sport is unpredictable and you just never know what is going to happen.

It's not great though being 2-0 down inside 20 minutes to the bottom placed side. The comeback was remarkable though, and if we had another 10 minutes we probably would have won it.

The inexperience is showing, as is our lack of depth. Irrespective of what happens, I am proud of what this team has achieved, trophy or no trophy, and this season has made me fall in love with the club again.

It's not a great result but it's not over yet.
We have something to build on if nothing else.
Need to add Balogunner to the strikers, for example, not sell him off.

Another flog having a go at us. Must have missed the Saka goal and assist.

At the end of every round of fixtures, BBC football pundit Garth Crooks is on hand to give you his Team of the Week.

Martin Odegaard (Arsenal): I said it only a few weeks ago that goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale's entire season will depend on the next seven games. He will either pick up a Premier League title medal or have to console himself with a Champions League spot. If he continues to make the sort of error that cost Arsenal so dearly in the opening minutes against a battling Southampton, then it's the latter for him. The Arsenal keeper had a good think before making a poor pass between two opposing players and paid the price for allowing his pride to get the better of him. It's just as well Arsenal have Martin Odegaard in their ranks. The Norway international possesses great leadership skills and a cool head to match. His calm and calculated one-two on the edge of the box with Ben White prior to his superb finish said loud and clear that Odegaard is one man Arsenal can certainly count on in the final stages of the season. I'm not entirely sure about the rest.

I wonder if Arteta is contemplating a change of system for this one. Back 5 perhaps. Tierney as the left sided CB. Or a double pivot with Jorginho in. If Xhaka is well enough he’d be straight back in however if not, surely it’s Trossard.

As much as I’m nervous about the match itself, am also a bit cautious about the emotions of the occasion. Zinchenko in particular. He seemed very wound up the last time and understandably he and Jesus have a point to prove. However, composure wins you league titles.

Mikel Arteta held his pre-match press conference at London Colney to chat about our upcoming trip to the Etihad.

on potentially preparing for the rest of the season without William:
Well at the moment we don’t have him. We are preparing for this game without him and the next game, obviously, it’ll probably come too soon as well. We have to go week by week for the moment.

on Granit Xhaka’s availability:
Granit has been out. Hopefully, he will be able to train today but he’s still a doubt.

on whether we have any other injury doubts:
No, the rest are okay.

on relying on the experience of Jesus and Zinchenko to get over the line:
I think experience is key when you’ve been in those moments, to handle those moments and to understand the importance of certain things when you are competing in a football match. The capacity to transmit as those two players have done for the rest of the team - a lot of things that are very, very important. Some of the rest of them are young but they’ve played a lot of games already.

on whether he’ll try something completely new ahead of City:
We will see tomorrow.
