He also suggested any move was being blocked by the Lyon president, whether he wanted to go or not

Posturing at its finest.

Lyon are waiting for an offer they can't refuse. Whether Wenger gives them one is another proposition entirely.

Whether the player is worth the kind of money it takes to get Lyon to decide they can't refuse it is also another proposition.

Lyon don't seem to be posturing to maximise a sale, they seem to be genuinely only interested in keeping the player. Under those circumstances he's just not going to be worth the 60 or 70 mill it will take to break their resolve.

If they were interested in making a sale, there'd be more going on, and more club names being bandied about as part of the process.

We're rumoured to have had a £29m bid rejected. If we counter bid £35+ and it's rejected then yeah, we should hit up the next target. But until that happens we won't know how serious they are. £40m would almost certainly get it done IMO - but again; whether it's worth it or not is another question.

I'd throw £40m. If they bite we have a new look striker see what we can do. Is there a chance it'll end up being overpayment, sure, but you have to take some risks, and if we have already bid 29m another 11m isn't going to break the bank.

Standard Arsenal. Standard Wenger.

Fine tuning minor details, whilst losing games of football. Arsene knows best.

We won't pay for Mustafi, Lacazette and Mahrez but Everton will happily plonk £30m down for Bolasie. Done with these campaigners.

Funny how Man United were only linked to Bailly, Mkhitaryan, Ibra and Pogba and got them all.

Before he window opened we knew City would target Stones, Sane, Nolito and Gundogan. Got them all.

Even Musa to Leicester was telegraphed.

We, as usual, were linked with every professional player in the universe and end up with Asano.

Remember a few weeks ago how Wenger said he doesn't see Walcott as a RM because he doesn't defend hard enough and have the requisite work rate?

Can someone remind me where Walcott started on the weekend, in a home opener, against Liverpool?

Only at Arsenal is Wenger's incompetence and victims mentality tolerated to this extent.

He always finds a way to make himself the victim. There's no clearer reason as to why Arsenal is a spineless club, with a soft mentality waiting to be exposed. Wenger is this soft underbelly, and it's crept into the very culture on and off the pitch.

Have been saying this for years now, so it's tiresome to keep repeating.

It's indefensible, except to his dwindling number of cult followers who eat the shit he spouts out of the palm of his hands.

**** wenger the tight arse prick, absolutely sick to death of this crap

Every year i defend him when everyone gives him shit, but not anymore, completely done with him.

This club has become a joke, look at the starting 11 we had on the weekend, what a bloody shambles.

We wont make champions league this year and sanchez and ozil will be saying bye bye

I'm reserving the right to not blow up until deadline. As much as I love transfer rumours they generally are just that and I take snub reports in the same manner as I take "medical tomorrow" reports.

Annoying loss but we never win week one and really it was a one goal loss with two kids at CB and in fairness a couple of Liverpool's goals were crackers that no goalkeeper gets near (Coutinho's was sublime). We also missed a penalty. That we came back at them instead of further capitulating is encouraging and that was a mile off our best side on the park. Of course it adds fuel to the fire but there is still a fortnight to sort this shit out.

Don't sign a new CB and striker or settle for dregs as either by that deadline though and I will be furious.

So anyone on this board actually want Wenger to get another contract ?

If you asked me a couple of months ago I'd maybe have been okay with it. Absolutely not now.

Weren't you the clown convinced that we are signing Lewandowski ans Griezmann?

We haggle over a few pounds over transfer fees yet we throw away 140k p/w on spuds like Walcott.

Logic.

All of the above
