Crowley, Akpom and Zelalem the only ones I could think of.

In fairness though, Akpom has come out of the academy and is now a first teamer on loan. Crowley and Zelalem are playing in the reserves right?

Tom was inferring there are better prospects currently in the academy.

Crowley is I think, Zelalem is on loan at Rangers. Wouldn't have a clue about any others don't pay much attention to the youth teams.

Forgot about Zelalem at Rangers. Don't know much about Crowley or any others currently in the academy.

Keen to hear who the 10 better ones are. Because I like what I see with Iwobi, if there's better already then am looking forward to seeing them in the first team eventually.

Iwobi wouldn't be a top 10 prospect at the club. Only reason he has been given an opportunity this season is the more experienced prospects have been loaned out and a heap of new young prospects have been recruited to the club as well as come through the ranks having progressed from hale end. Which those guys are still too young to be given any game time.

However the one thing I will say about Iwobi is he plays better around better and more experienced players, whilst he has the maturity and composure of someone who is far older than what he is. Which is why he has looked good when given first team opportunities and he might be able to get himself to the level of a poor mans Thomas Muller but in terms of potential there are far better prospects in the academy.

Brilliant post.

Crowley is seen as a massive talent, he actually might be back at Arsenal now, I know he was at Barnsley and their manager gave him a huge wrap.

Who are the ten prospects better than him at the club? Genuine question.

1. Gnabry:
  • Could argue he is no longer a talent. Has had a rough time of it the past 18 months.
2. Reine Adelaide:
  • Turns 18 in seven days and personally think he has all the tools to one day be a very good player.
3. Maitland Niles:
  • 18 years old and a regular for Ispwich who sit 6th in the championship, which says a lot for his talent. The fact he is not directly contributing to goals is somewhat concerning, however I think thats partly to do with the system he plays in. If he doesn't work out as a wingman then he could potentially find success as a deep lying midfielder where he has shown promise and is where he played against Galasaray last season in the champions league. Is very disciplined and works hard, which is surprising as his mother is bat shit crazy.
4. Zelalem:
  • Notched up his 8th assist of the season last night, which is pleasing although perhaps still underperforming. Although that doensn't worry me too much as I think he is built for Arsenals way of playing and will flourish once given an opportunity as well as capable of holding his own weight.
5. Donyell Malen:
  • Big talent. Is only 16 and has already scored 5 time for the U21's. Has everything you need in a striker (link up play, finishing, movement).
  • .
6. Chris Willock:
  • A personal favourite of mine and Wenger has spoken highly on him the past. Playing style is similar to Iniesta whereby he has the ball on a string and doesn't require tricks to beat defenders. Best part about Willock has been his development, he has always been talented but since he has been able to get stronger, his play had advanced significantly to the point where he isn't far away from a first team opportunity.
7. Reiss Nelson:
  • Biggest English talent since Wilshere and is in fact younger Wilshere was when he made his U21 debut. Nelson actually isn't a first year scholar yet and is still a school boy but that hasn't stopped him from having an impact each time he has played.

  • Control and trickery is ridiculously good.

8. Yassin Fortune:
  • 16 year old turning 17 later this month. Is just as talented as Malen and Nelson, although hasn't had as many opportunities at higher grades as those two. Style wise you can't help but think Henry, will be interesting to see how he develops especially given Henry is one of his coaches.
9. Daniel Crowley:
  • Personally don't Crowley is a chance of making it as he is too selfish and petulant. But he certainly has the talent to make it if he could overcome those two weaknesses.
10. Marcus Egyei Tabi:
  • Haven't seen as much of this kid as I have of the others but every time I have seen him I'm left impressed and wanting to see more. Like Malen and Fortune is 16 turning 17 soon, but he plays with far more maturity than that and is a player I think Wenger will be watching closely. In fact I think he has already trained with the first team, which suggest a bit.

So theres my 10 with not necessarily the best chance of making it but the most potential should they make it, given their raw skill and talent. For what its worth I would also have Isacc Hayden, Tafari Moore and Julio Pleguezuelo as better chances of making it (need to get over injuries) than Iwobi, with the likes of Toral, Akpom, Bielick having similar or slightly better chances of making it, but very slim. But in saying that theres no reason these guys can't be premier league quality, just unlikely they will be Arsenal quality.

Do we consider Chambers and Bellerin?

Reine Adelaide
Zelalem
Crowley
Hayden
Sanogo?
Gnabry
Akpom
Maitland-niles
Jon Toral
Wellington silva

I would classify Bellerin as member of the first team now and thus no longer a prospect. Chambers is still a prospect but has shown he can perform at premier league level. Although I'm a pretty big fan of Chambers and don't understand the hate he has received, the mistakes he has made are what you'd expect from a 20 year old and when he has been beaten at right back most of the time it was against fast tricky wingers, which is Wenger putting him a bad situation.

Wellington Silva is an interesting one. As far as dribbling past opponents he could well be better than Alexis, but then he has little to no end product. Hope to see him given an opportunity next preseason as we may find he is better when surrounded by talented players. Also his situation when he first arrived was very unlucky so I hope we give him at least a very small chance of succeeding here.

on Tomas Rosicky
He will be back in full training this week, it is fantastic because he has been out for very long and it is good to know that a player of that calibre is back in our squad.

on Alexis
We think he will be short for Wednesday, he has a chance to be available for Sunday [against Stoke]. He is always keen to play. If you listen to Alexis, he can always play - even when he is injured. We try to be cautious. With a muscular injury you never exactly how big the risk but he is very close. If you look at him training he is very close.

Really must beat Liverpool to keep the pressure on City.

If City claw back the gap and Kompany returns and stays fit, they will take some stopping. Really need to keep that distance between us and them.

It will be interesting to see how, if at all, this effects Kroenke's relationship with Arsenal. Constructing Stan's new stadium is estimated to cost possibly in excess of $2 billion, so it is within the realms of possibility that he may either have to dip into the coffers of his other assets or sell some of them.
