the socks at least go with the top, so i dont mind that. the plain black shorts is the odd one out IMO. anyway the best part of the below pic is to actually see jack decked out in our kit, has been a long time

am a big purple fan latro, that's probably why im a fan of this. ill end up buying it from kitbag (much cheaper than arsenal.com) but i did chuckle when i read this disclaimer on the pre order section of the arsenal website:

"All player shirt printing, pre August, is at the sole risk of the customer/fan. Arsenal FC cannot guarantee
any player squad inclusion or number until the start of season 12/13, and the official squad publication"

Looking at the squad there's no one who stands out as a possibility. Majority of the players are cemented in their respective first squads. Javi Martinez is the only one in the squad who has been linked to a move away from his club, and that would be amazing if we signed him, but the talk has been of a 40M pound transfer fee, and we all know that won't come from Arsenal.

Talk is that the player is Alvaro Negredo. I wouldn't mind him, but isn't he the same sort of player as Giroud?

Alex Song (0.7) averaged more accurate through balls per game in 2011/12 than Iniesta, Sneijder, Di Maria, Ozil & Xavi.

Yes, but what was his ratio of successful to unsuccessful through balls? It's easy to average more accurate ones per game if you're attempting 20x more.

I haven't seen him play live but from his highlights he looks to play more like torres/RVP then giroud. His looks a more athletic then giroud and doesnt appear to be as good in the air then giroud. Negredo seems to be a player that gets the ball turns and shoots where as Giroud gets on the end of things like Gomez from bayern. Negredo has good volley on him to so if he does join i can see him and song forming a partnership like RVP and song did. From what I've read on Negredo people are saying he could turn into one of the better strikers in the world he just needs a break out season.

negredo is quality, but he's been rated at about 20m pounds. surely we wont be paying that type of fee for another striker after already buying podolski & giroud. midfield is where we need to invest in next

Interesting to see the ticket prices have gone down. Hopefully they have decided do decrease the ticket prices because of fan pressure which may also mean we could see more transfer business, thats if the reason for dropping ticket prices was because of fan pressure.

yes i read that, but that was for 'category c' games only i believe. for 'category a' (i.e spurs, chelsea, united etc) prices have actually risen 23%

Interesting to see Olsonn and Ebcellio get named in the team especially Olsonn who has only played at under 18 level though he was the best player last season at that level. Physcially he I wouldnt have thought he would be ready but hopefully he gets a chance and shows something that suggest he could be a good player in the future. His style is similar to Fabregas for those wondering.

Yeah he looks good - particularly that aerial through ball to the no.9 who bottled it, looks quite a bit like Luka Modric, both physically and the way he plays.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to have Song Billong set free in the middle of the park? Free from having to try and be a "defensive" midfielder, which he is less than adequate at and play in front of someone like, say, Tiote.

good interview with podolski

There has been plenty of debate about what position you may play at Arsenal. It may depend a little on what happens to Van Persie, but where do you see your best position?

I can play up front on my own, as a second striker or push forward on the left side of midfield. So long as I am playing with adventure, get into position to score goals and give my all to the team then I can be satisfied. That's why I'm pleased to hear people suggest my defensive work has improved over the years. I have worked hard on this area of my game.

The great thing about ratios are that they mean the same thing if the attempts are 5 or 55 ;)

surely he will sign that contract extension now that the trophy drought has finally been broken?

My thinking exactly, he has a problem with the way the club is going, now we've started winning trophies, will he be content with the club's new direction?

In all seriousness, he was rumoured to be looking at houses in Manchester.
