Ah sorry, I thought we were home to marseille first up.

And Walcott should've buried his first chance at least, probably the second one too. Ozil could've had two assists in his first 14 minutes.

Two shots by foot and one header that should have been in the back of the net, only the shot-cum-cross from near the byline was a difficult chance.

Amazing how just one man can change the look of a whole side and make everyone around him better. His ability to attract multiple defenders and to create space for passing opportunities was incredible.

The second shot was not easy. Has Theo ever scored a headed goal?

For a player who made demands like he did last season, it should have been easy. The header was also a simple one for a professional goal scorer, and Theo didn't even send it the right way, let alone put it on target.

Reminds me of that Fabregas sub cameo against Villa.

We were struggling a bit but may have still gone on to win it. But when he came on, the rest of the team went up a couple of gears.

And then he scored two goals. I miss Cesc. :(

Did his hammy whilst scoring his second as well, missed the next month. Eventful game for him hey.

If Theo has anything going for him other than his pace, it's his finishing.

He'll hit the scoresheet soon. No need for the bashing.

That first touch :thumbsu:

We need Podolski back ASAP to provide Giroud with some support upfront, however I am stoked Arteta is a chance to be back next week. Such a consistent player always know what you are going to get from him.

We need a lot of players back, on our bench last night we had no options to switch to in case something wasn't working up forward. Our only choices were
  • 20 year old Ryo (Left Wing, 16 career league games, 0 goals)
  • 18 year old Gnabry (Right Wing, 1 career league game, 0 goals)
  • 17 year old Akpom (CF, 0 career league games, 0 goals)
Beyond that we had a dodgy keeper, a not even remotely match fit CB, an iffy DM and a good LB

Really disappointed that Walcott wasn't swapped for Ryo when we went 1-3 up.

When we went 1-3 up it was time to try and stabilise an unstable game, hence we replaced him with a full back to secure the points. Ryo may have come on if Atkinson had allowed the equaliser at 2-2.

Paper thin squad and dodgy "#1" 'keeper are a real worry. Happy with Ozil; he goes OK(!!!!) and I am very, very happy to have Flamini in the side. He, Flamini, allows the five in front of him to have a good time but calls them to account when needed and demands discipline.

Giroud is loving it at the moment and I'm loving him and Ramsey, "go-you-good-thing"!

F*****g shit at defending corners and free kicks and I have never seen such a putrid zonal set up for corners in my life. There was one instance when Gibbs was marking our 'keeper and impeding him getting to the ball!

Yes our squad is a little thin but we have 7 first team injuries at the moment FFS. They aren't going to stay injured for the rest of the season. Podolski was the one injury we really didn't need. Just need to pray that Giroud stays fit.

His poor header resulted in the penalty although I'm wondering if Kos should of called it his. (need to see the replay

Come off it. Kos' absolute dumb challenge was the reason for the penalty, nothing else.

Kos does give away too many needless penalties. That rugby tackle vs City last season a prime example. Needs to eliminate this from his game. Is our best defender otherwise.

I guess it depends on how you see cause and effect.
I see Kos and Gibbs both move to their left and right respectivley to try to header clear the ball. If you leave your opponent I think its a must that you win the header and then clear the ball into at least a neutral position further upfield. Instead it loops backwards and sideways to a now unmarked Johnson and both Gibbs and Kos have to scramble to close him down. If Johnson had a right foot it could of been 1-1 from open play.

Kos' seems have to a problem with perceived danger when players get past him or he is rushing to defend even though in many cases the angle on goal has been closed down. As glenferry suggests he needs to eliminate this from him game.

So Ozil and Giroud are both under injury clouds...Giroud will have a fitness test but I just can't see the point in playing him if he's not good to go. Far too great a risk if he goes down with a serious injury.

At the risk of stating the obvious, we don't really have any decent options to call upon within the squad though at the moment.

Look, I'll take a point from this game.

Rest some players and play this team ...

Szczesny
Jenkinson - Mertesacker - Vermaelen - Monreal
Flamini - Frimpong
Gnabry - Ramsey - Wilshere
Walcott
Fabianski, Koscielny, Sagna, Gibbs, Ozil, Miyaichi, Akpom
