Was quoted $1700 return today in the June/July 2012 period, however that's with student discount. It's with Air NZ and the ticket is both refundable and i can change dates if i need to. Might grab this!

Also if there is anyone interested in going to Europe, STA have return flights $1200 to London (I think it was with Etihad), one week only offer and you can book whatever date you like. Nearly changed my US plans and booked for Europe when I saw that!peri

Oh wow. My bf could use that fare maybe. Is it this week????

As for my plans atm they are-

Month of June- Trek America tour, going from LA, up the northern trail to NYC.
Early July- (hopefully stay with some friends in Florida for a few weeks, do the theme parks again, lol).

Late July- London for 5-7 nights where I'll meet up with the bf

Early August- Begin a massive 7-week Europe Contiki tour, basically going everywhere, with a 7 day stay in either Egypt or Greek Islands (u get to choose one).

Um. London. The week we would stay there would be SMACK BANG while the friggin Olympics are on.

Anyone got any advice re. this? Run? Stay away??????

Book early. Accomodation in London will be scarce and expensive.

Yeah I know. Already looked up a couple YHA hostels, found some private rooms at 70 pounds per night, which isnt too bad, as that means only 35 each.

A few are already fully booked!!! But I found a few that werent too.

Guys, any advice as to where I can find details regarding getting a cab from 30th St station in Philly to Lincoln Financial Field and return...?

Got tickets to NFL pre-season game in Philly but coming from NY for the game and getting desperate as to info getting to and from train station....

I am pretty shue that there are Taxi Queues at the 30th Street Station.

Can't believe it has been 10 months since I returned. Still feels like I got back a few weeks ago.

LOL (not at you) but it's been 12 years since my first visit to the states and it only seems like 12 days ago we went. and only 129 days until my next visit. :thumbsu:

These airfares are really starting to freak me out.

Just checking webjet- a one way ticket to LA is like $1500, and that is the cheapest. (Cant check other fares, cause the dates are still too far away).

Still have to get flights from Florida to London probably and also London back home.

You usually have to pay a bit for one way tickets. Just the 3 main flights I'm doing (Melb to LA, NYC to London & Frankfert to Melb) is 3000.

Webjet had a sale last Sunday with LA flights on V Australia only $1300-$1400 return or thereabouts. Had a reasonable travel window too IIRC. I am starting to accept that I won't get my $1070 return tickets again.

I see your dilemma though. One way flights cost the same as return flights and if you are planning on coming home over Asia, then it will cost you heaps.

Wonder how you would go with just LA return and Florida to London return tickets?

It seems like a rtw ticket might be your best option. Still some decent deals on those student flight websites and you don't have to be a student.

I'm havent.;)

Thanks for the tips :thumbsu:

Just another quick question, If I go round the world ticket- do you HAVE to fly out of the same city you fly into??? ie. If I do a trek america, I'll be going LA-NYC, could I do Melb-LA----- NYC-Florida, Florida-London-Melb?

I was going to do one of those Star Alliance rtw trips (I think using Qantas and British Airways etc) and you get 16 legs, but I could leave from anywhere to continue the journey. In other ones you can exercise the option to make your own way to the next destination. Of course those ones are over $4000, so you need a watered down version, and I have seen those around the $2000 mark not that long ago. You can also use it for domestic flights within the US so that might help.

May not have been Star Alliance, as I looked at so many. Try going on the Qantas site and checking rtw from there for the ones I found to be the most flexible.

Great, thanks. :thumbsu:

Cant wait to have everything just booked already.

I have actually made my first booking!!! Spent 15 pounds, reserving a private hostel room off Oxford St. Was getting nervous, most hotels were booked (staying around the beginning of the Olympics). Glad to have that done, now just gotta book a million other things.

You can do Melb to LA, Orlando to London, London to Melbourne for $3100 using a multicity ticket on Qantas.

That should save you about a grand on doing it individually.

Orlando/London return for $673 (Priceline.com), and LA/Orlando return for $292 inc tax.

Just found a pricebreaker deal on priceline.com, LA to Melb return on V Australia. Should be able to reverse the order given it is an Australian airline.

Not sure if V Australia have it themselves or if you have to go through Priceline but the price is $1178 and ends on the 2nd of September (US time).

Edit: If you only want one Florida/LA flight and want to drive one way priceline have a $149 one way deal on for the next 5 days.

Wow. Wow, wow, wow!!!!

That price definitely hits my mark. Would be over the moon with that kind of price. :thumbsu:

Family has just booked tickets from here to Florida (via LA), we're going to fly up to New York for a couple of days as well. This is for Feb/March next year. I'm so excited - never been to New York before.

Any tips on what to cram in for a quick trip to New York?

Walk around, absorb the feel of the place- and New yorkers were quite friendly imo.

Show on Broadway? Natural history museum was amazing.

Or as above, go to London then backtrack for $2143. Do half your US stuff on the way to London and half on the way back to break up the travel, and you have your US domestic flights covered as well.
