Dreadful second half. Relied on individuals all day.

Goal at 3 qtr time for the deliberate call just sucked any life out of it.

Midfield were absolutely belted, Powell had the most nothing 25+ possession game you’ll ever see. Xerri had his colours lowered massively. Parker making mistake after mistake, probably his worst game in our jumped.

Just get the season over with. Not looking forward to the next 2 weeks.

Poor team selection played its part running with four KPD's - two matching up on smaller more agile mid sized forwards who kicked 8 goals between them - and 2 KPF's - one who's played less than 10 games and the other who's 191cm who can't get off the ground. Brilliant.
who were the shorter defenders we could have played? LMac out, Goater not ready, Bergman LTI..

A very winnable game goes comfortably begging.

I thought we looked mostly quite switched on early - lots of overlap run and a more attacking approach than we normally employ, which is a good development if we could pair it with the ability to switch modes when the game requires it. McKercher continued to develop well in the first half, Phillips effective in the centre, Harvey looking a far more genuine prospect than he did a fortnight ago. We had lapses in the first half - shouldn't have needed to kick a goal on the QT siren to be in front at the first break, and their three early-ish in the second term weren't made nearly difficult enough - and then inaccuracy added to the usual problems with poor efficiency. Then... fell away, again, which is even harder to excuse against a team in our bracket of the ladder than against a finals contender.

I think it just never felt like the whole side were on. Xerri was well down on his best, certainly well down on the form he was in in R2; Simpkin was seriously ineffectual, first thing he did of note was concede a cheap 50m then nearly give up another a minute before half time; guys like Parker, Powell and Sheezel were involved without being sufficiently influential. It's disappointing when injuries to the likes of Larkey, LDU, Wardlaw and McDonald prevent us playing our best side but give others some opportunities, the 'fringe' players go okay, but the 'stalwarts' give us too little.

Frustrating to be seeing some signs of improvement this year (and not just on an individual player basis), but not nearly enough - too incremental, too patchy, too much backsliding into bad habits (yet another 100+ score conceded...?!). It was reasonable to expect that we could win today - that at this stage, we should be in that pack of also-ran teams and beating those around us or at least not being outclassed and easily scored against by them - and we just haven't stepped up to that low mark.

I don't get the potting of Melksham, he's always been a decent forward but had a bad run with injuries. Was in good form lately.

Kicked five against the Crows.

They were +26.0 on expected scoring today - easily the best +/- of any team this week (next best was +18.0 for GWS and then +14.8 for Freo. We were +5.2)

As I said in the match thread, them shooting the lights out in the second half didn't help. We shouldn't have allowed them to dominant patches in the 3rd and then early 4th though, but they converted well above expectation.
