Jono was pretty good, as was Cam "Sworth" Unsworth who dominated in only his second game back from a knee reco. Xavs fell in with a lucky goal to Scotty Mollard off the pack.

Can somebody tell me why Xavs play at the muddy sh*it hole at Toorak Park when they play their Cluib XVIII at Victoria Park....? Go figure.

The Big Cat is back, he must have been inspired by big Nathan Thompson on Sat night. Take note VAFA rep side selectors...

Damn straight!!

Cullinan kicked 4, Lynch kicked 3, Gerstman kicked 2 and The Big Cat bagged 8 at HQ.

If Sir Bob Geldof and U2 can end poverty in Africa, surely we can get The Big Cat another Big V guernsey. I'm starting a petition.... If that fails, I don't rule out doing a Tonya Harding / Nancy Kerrigan on both Anthony Lynch and James Gerstman.

Lynch was dreadful, Collegians full back went off in the 1st stanza, he played on a bloke who is 5'8", and still only kicked 2.

Vote 1: Big Cat

The problem with the Big Cat is that he is a lurker... on the footy field and on big footy!

Nobs-OEG this week should be a great game between two very proud clubs.

I think we managed about 8 goals between us last week so it could be a quiet day for Pazza and Nuffy O'Dwyer if they get the game at the Gillon. I think nobs would like to leave OEG with one more embarrassing loss before we head to the abyss of C and D section.

I hear OEG have a love in up at the mountains this week, that all sounds a bit g@y, probably not one tart on the entire mountain.

Disillusioned Alphonse.

After two floggings in Round 1 and 2 the Two Blues have lost just one game to Carey after being 6 goals up at three quarter time and beaten every other side in the competition, including the Reds "on a bad day."
Roughly translated as "beaten every other side in the competition ... oh apart from the three teams we didn't beat ... apart from the third of the opposition we haven't beaten ... we've beaten everyone ..." :o

Of course the return match will be very interesting. I might say that the Reds had an off day, but somehow the circumstances must have been created for that off day. Reds wouldn't want to be complacent on the return.

Is there any way we can enable a wager?

I believe the love-in is the week after the NOBS-OEG clash. There is shaping to be more sausage than a Don Smallgoods trade show

How has the Gillon faithful reacted to the news of the Loaf's reverse vasectomy? Are the boys swimming again?

Being an Old Mentonian myself, I have just observed the emergence of Prahran and was surprised at your disrespect given their recent record against the Reds (it would be 2-1 wouldn't it).

Then again, that tends to be the way of the Reds from the cockroach down and your confidence based on a lucky finals victory last year, a prelim flogging and solid results against a significantly weaker competition in 2005 seems a little over exuberant.

Would the Two Blues win the return bout away from home, not sure. But surely their record of having defeated the two so called destined Grand Finalists must make them somewhat bona fide.

Furhtermore, don't write off the Panthers from sneaking a finals berth yet either despite the Reds comfortable victory at the weekend!!!!!

About forty thousand prepared for war passed over before the LORD unto battle, to the plains of Gillion. Joshua 4:13

I feel many numbers will descend upon the Gillion with their dogs, horses and maybe even roosters for the last great clash of A.D.

Up in A Grade this week. It's a shame the midfield isn't there at Nobs, because SMC is having a year to remember in front of the sticks.

I havent really seen Jono play many games but he must be an absolute superstar to be able to kick bags with that barnacle Hertiage attached to his gooch

You are an absolute rooster Snake, would be nice if you could come up with something new after 90 odd posts

Nothing like the sweet smell of victory unless of course your team is now above the cocky Old Essendon grammar boys! The Fielders had a hard fought win against Mazenod and now see themselves as a real finals chance.

I made a triumphant return to the 1sts getting BOG, nothing better than waking up sunday morning to see your name at the top of the heap in the paper. Now that I've learnt my mistakes from the past and with my uni course being on holidays for a couple more weeks, I hope to continue to propel the boys further towards a B Grade finals berth...

The big cat should be in the state team. Give him a go, he is white hot form at the moment.

That battle for 4th should be a beauty.

The High's performance after getting belted by Old Ivanhoe is fantastic.
The arrival of Wright to coach you Fielders is paying dividends.
Still don't think you could rule out the 'Friars at this stage..and who really knows with the boys from Keilor Hill?

Unless something goes totally haywire between now and the last round, the top 3 are locked in already. Wouldn't the side that finished 4th just be prolonging their wait for the end-of-season wake by one week?

What do these 4 sides playing for a 1st semi spot need to do to bridge the gap? (and please don't just say beat them, I mean where can they be beaten and who's best equipped to do so?)

I'm starting a new part time job tomorrow as a parking inspector to help cover the costs of my sports administration certificate from Vic Uni, so I will be doing my weekly match previews and tips today.

A Grade

The Bloods make the long trip across town to the Snake Pit but will go home with the 4 points. The OC travel to Bulleen to take on the Eagles only to find a fired up Cullinan who should close the gap on Gerstman on the Sharpshooters leaderboard. St Kevins host Old Xavs at St Kevins College in what should be a one sided affair. Xavs took the OC lightly last week and almost paid the ultimate price so they will be switched on this week and take the 4 points comfortably. The Students host the big improvers OM's in what should be a classic contest. The Students but only just. In the final game of the round the Cardinals riding high on confidence to defeat a hapless Trinity.

B Grade

B Grade action hits HQ this weekend with Old Ivanhoe taking on Mazenod on Saturday and St Bedes hosting De La on Sunday. Both games should be exteremly one sided with Old Ivanhoe and De La Salle to remain tied on top of the ladder at the completion of the round. Brighton should join these 2 at the top after a hard fought away win against Caulfield. MHSOB will contiues the woes for Whitefriars and cement a spot in the top 4. The final match of the round has been dubbed the 2006 C Grade Grand Final preview as the ordinary NOB's host the plummeting OE's at the Gillon. SMC to kick plenty as the home side records a very rare W.

Best of luck to all teams.

All clear thanks! :p

Of the 4, I wonder about the scoring ability of the Keilor Hill boys. I don't know why, but, they seem to be lacking a focal point or a group of focal points up forward who can help them out.

Melbourne High seem to have it right with Pertzel in the square. With Bamert able to help him, they look quite likely.

Hard to gauge 'Friars from a distance. They had problems in A Grade last year with their midfield group. Haven't had them to be sure.

Caulfield have been competitive in every match they've played this year...even when they were in the drop zone early on. I think that effort has given them a lot of confidence.

What does that say for the quality of OEG's forward line of Flaherty, Skurrie and Bartram?

Soft, weak as ********, bunch of girls???

Have to agree with you Pazza about the Keilor Hill Boys forward setup, it just doesn't seem as potent as last year with the likes of Playfair, Heritage, Oblubeck and Stormont having more than +120 goals between them.

It didn't seem dangerous enough against our team and the same probably happens against most other sides in the comp!

Old Essendon to fall to C Grade Nuffy? That is a very big call. Former coach Dunell must have left them in very bad shape.
