I'm not sure about this but is Doull the only AFL player to have played with a future coach in multiple Grand Finals as well as being coached by the same team mate?
Aside from Jezza who is officially the last playing coach (I think?)

I’d say Doull played with three before they became his coache - John Nicholls, Alex Jesaulenko and Robert Walls.

One of the reasons I loved the Blues. Absolute gun player. So fearless and real football smarts.

1970 and 1972 grand final performances cemented him as a Carlton legend, but I loved him before that for his talent and supreme attack on the contest.

Will never be forgotten.

Great find mate. I've lost count of the amount of times I've listened to his open mike episode and his appearance on the SACKED podcast. Great to add another one to the list.

Sad to hear of his passing.

Carlton Legend, but also set up a football club that would win 3 in a row 2001-2003. And turned the Bears from basket case to respected football club.

Leigh Matthews gets all the credits, but without Walls building thew foundation and frame they don't win 3 in a row.
