If he hadn't done his knee when in the firsts, he was looking like he was going to be a regular in our defence, or at least first man up if there was an injury.

Was pretty heartbreaking at the time. I went from "why'd we pick up this guy?", to "what's he doing in the backline?", to "how good is this bloke slotting into a role?", to "how are we going to cover this gap defensively?" all in a matter of months

And we knew at his age and with his history, and with us having a lot of defenders, we were not going to give him another chance.

Honestly blacky and marcus drum would have both ended up defensive mainstays with us..similarly skilled and smart just cruelled by injury in our time with us both of them.
