Heard from a Collingwood friend that we went down by 23 goals or something today in the VFL practice match. Against half of the Collingwood Senior Side. Anyone see it? Interesting test for young up and comers.

Collingwood played probably 10-12 of their best AFL players: Josh Fraser, Alan Didak, Marty Clarke, Heath Shaw, Shane O'Bree, Harry O'Brien, Shane Wakelin, Tarkyn Lockyer

Plus they had the best of their VFL List: Justin Crow, Tim Walsh, Saad Saad etc..

Geelong played everyone who is fighting for a spot on their VFL list + a couple of AFL 1st year players. Their best 10 VFL players did not play.

Most of the guys who played were local Geelong Football League players.

If I were to call you "makara" would we know each other? Would you be more interested in one of the, ehem, Tanami boys at the woods than the GFC fourths?

I used to watch Saad Saad play in the GVFL a fair bit. Absolutely dominated, and took this great mark once.
No one's really sure about his name, is it his first name, last name, or both?

What cruel parents he must have

He is a Coburg Amateurs junior, his brother - whom I've played a few games against over the years - is named Sammy Saad.

Very good player though, Essendon were looking at drafting him one year from memory - has played for cash with Northcote Park and last year up Shepp way I think.

The most exciting small forward I've seen in the bush, no doubt up against some quality players in the fight for a spot on the list but would be a great story should he get a gig . . . . . not great for Seymour or GVFL fans in general though who he has amazed for 3-4 years now

Did Saad Saad play at Werribee at anytime in the last few years ?
I thought they had a player for a season who had an unusual name like that.

Maybe you are thinking of ex Port Adelaide rookie Salim Hassan, who will be plying his trade with West Adelaide in the SANFL this year.

Does anyone know why they played so many of their good players in the VFL?

Collingwood, managing the workload of a dozen of its first-pick players after a month of travel, took to the field with a tick under 1000 matches of AFL experience, including nine players from last year’s preliminary final squad.
