1pm tomorrow if anyone is interested in going down to skilled and having a look before the big match in melbourne, im heading down. I think Wojcinski might be playing which might bring a few along to see how he is progressing.

I'm glad that you blokes have sorted that out. I will have a look at the VFL too tomorrow. I stumbled on the VFL game last week (I did not know it was on) when I thought that I would check out the progress of the new stand.

they have said hawkins will play afl and he will. i had a good source that also said he was going to play vfl if anything but he was wrong. same person has told me Wojcinski might be running around tomorrow in the vfl but i am not sure i want to believe it.

Beautiful day today at skilled stadium, pretty reasonable crowd showed up, it was a pretty evenly matched side, each team had 1st and 2nd year players as there experienced players with the rest being blokes vying for a vfl spot.

We ended up winning by about 10 goals, we flew out of the box and had a ripper 1st quarter but willi came back in the 2nd and made the game pretty even at half time. the 3rd quarter was a battle early until we got away from them and took the momentum into the last quarter where williamstown pretty much gave up.

Mitch Brown - Really like the look of this kid, cant wait till he puts some muscle on, he took some good marks, probably kicked about 3 goals and just looks like a footballer, great skills.

Tom Gillies - wore number 23 again, he was named in the squad for tonights game and i can understand why, is very determined and takes alot of marks playing in front and he really backs himself coming out of defense, tough nut. played on Ayce Cordy most of the game and kept him real quiet, real good propect here so watch for him.

Adam Donohue - wore number 25, played a bit of everywhere, started in the midfield i think and drifted forward to kick a goal but then went to defense for the 2nd quarter where he did his ankle late and came off but came back on half way through the 3rd and went onto a wing and provided alot of run and kicked a nice goal on the run. 2 good games in a row

David Wojcinski - wore number 35. just got through the game ok thats all i can really say although he didnt play the last quarter but i think they would of planned that, he was pretty much playing the 1st 7 or 8 mins of each quarter and then coming off for 5 and then running the quarter out for 3 quarters, didnt do much but he did get through ok.

Taylor Hunt - didnt really see him do much, laid a couple of good tackles but also got caught for 1 or 2 aswell, he does back himself but didnt really do much attacking wise today.

Shane Mumford - love this UNIT! big man who i would not want hitting me with a hip and shoulder, loves contact and completely dominated his opponent today, did a fair bit around the ground again and also kicked a goal, it was noticeable when he wasnt in the ruck because big Dawson didnt play.

Ranga - was on fire until he went off with what looked to be a hamstring injury which isnt good but he was real impressive up until then.

Tom Alwright - had a fair bit of the ball as i recall, he looks a good propect he is well built and has reasonable skills. good game today

Ranga was standing at the entrance to the race when I asked him if he had hurt his knee or ankle. He said that he has "done a hammy".

It must have been a reasonable tear because he was whincing with pain for a while and had to be helped from the ground. I think this one could be a good 4 weeks or more rest for young Ranga.

yeah i reckon i saw him on crutches which means its pretty bad.

and yes the draftees are going very well, ranga, tom alwright, mitch brown and tom gillies have all had 2 good games in the vfl.

I noticed this kids' aggression too. He is prepared to attack the ball when he roves and the tougher it is the more he seems to like it. He does not mind letting his opponent know that he does not particularly approve of him either. I don't know where he comes from but he attacks the ball with no concern at all for his own personal safety. A very tough kid.

great work tiredcat

Absolutely - and thanks for giving us country Vic folks who cannot make such games a good review. Always good to hear how some prospects you think might be ok.

Really like the sound of Gillies and Mitch Brown. Sometimes you just see the way a young guy moves on field and you think - he could be a player. And this could apply to Mumford, who looks like he is reasonably coordinated for a big guy. I will appreciate any further reports you have in regards to these players.

Kane Smith from lara. Had 2 good seasons on the falcons list but never made it

have to agree with u

I mean you don't want to put any undue pressure on him, but his situation coming into the AFL is very similar to Matthew Scarlett, and the boy is already generating a few murmurs amongst the playing group due to his similarity to Scarlo in all facets of his defensive play. Joel Selwood has leabelled him as Scarlett's "prodigy" and Steve Johnson has spoken about how his play reminds him of Scarlett. Expect that he will all- but disappear from the AFL radar for the next 1-2 seasons, and that noone from other clubs will know about him, before he bursts onto the scene to take the throne from Scarlett. I 100% believe this kid could turn out better than Hurley under our system, and I rate Hurley very highly, so that is saying something for my respect of Tom Gillies.

Could he be a chance to play against the Pies?

Personally, I'd rather the Cats utilised this weeks NAB GF as, essentially, a full dress rehearsal for Round 1. Meaning, basically the best 22 we have on offer out on the park. At the same time, I'd love it if Gillies was given a run with the big boys, as I got all geared up for him to make an appearance last week against the Blues which unfortunately didn't transpire.
