Ramanauskas played like a gun after coming back,
and I couldnt complain about Fletcher either.

Lloyd was pretty good, the delivery to him in the second half wasn't very good which is partly why he only kicked one goal after half time.

I think Essendon will beat Geelong, although I would be surprised if Rioli was playing after his hit way behind play on Simpson. I'll have to check the tape and see it it was on tv.

I still think Essendon can make the eight with what is a pretty soft second half draw. You only have one interstate game remaining for the rest of the season and that is against Adelaide who are probably playing the worst football of all the interstate teams.

Essendon should still win 11-12 games which would give them a great chance to play in the finals.

Stick a fork in us, we're done. If we can't get up for arguably the most important game of the year to date, then I'm not sure I see us playing with any kind of urgency the rest of the season.

They had three, maybe four chances to finish the game off, but when the game was well and truly in the balance they started kicking behinds and out-on-fulls.

I'm officially writing us off. Doesn't mean I'll stop watching, but I'm not expecting finals this year.

I tell the Essendon supporters what I think is wrong at Windy Hill and the worst part is it is not nice for Sheedy.

Sheeds as always rebuilt sides over his 20 years and in the last 10 years rebuilt it over a 3-4 year time span, this time he just hasn't picked the right talent.

Rioli although incredibly talented will never make a midfielder because he is just not fit.
Mercs has had it. In 3 years since he was runner-up in the 2000 Brownlow he is now lucky to be holding his position in the side. The worst part is he still has another 2 years of a 5 year contract at $400+.
Alessio will no doubtedly be traded or delisted at the end of the season.

These 3 fit into a bracket of the talent young gun who should be improving and 2 senior players who should be leading by example and none of them are performing. Add to this problem the fact that Hird will never play more than 16 games in a season again due to continual injury problems which probably only give him another couple of years.

The bottom line is that it will 3 years before Essendon is back at the top of the ladder at least because at the moment you just don't have the talent, particularly in the midfield. This is all because some guys were paid too much and others were let go are allowed to walk out the club without working out why they wanted to go.

I completely agree. That Hille miss was just one of the stupid mistakes, as was Mark Johnsons kick in the center square just before halftime. We played about 3 and a bit good quarters, which didn't match the kangaroos 4. The last 15 minutes made it look worse than it was.

Anyway...

not to mention the stupid mistakes around goal in the first half.. we could just of easily won that game, and everyone would be saying "the bombers are back". We are still good enough to make the finals, we just have to make sure we take our chances..

Problem is we didn't win, and all of a sudden making the finals looks to be almost beyond us. We can play all the good footy we want to, but if we don't start winning games (and soon), we will not play finals footy this year.

Hard to find a 2 (sorry Joey), let alone a 1 (sorry Rama). Although, I thought we didn't play too badly last night, it's just that we made some damn stupid mistakes, and more people made stupid mistakes than stood out and shone.

Still remaining positive. Which is very flipping difficult. I think we'll beat Geelong, perhaps we'll have woken up - but we'll have to work very damn hard to make the finals. Still, if we don't, give me the two Victorian teams that will.

Very frustrating in the end, but we lost to a damn good side imo. I wish we'd have given lloydy more space when he obviously had his blokes number.

No real excuses for losing this game, when you compare playing lists its hard to justify them beating us and other teams that they are beating. Lack of intensity and bad coaching at stages (adam simpson) were the cause.
