I missed a few passages of this game but here goes...
3 - Kane Johnson - back to his early year form. Reliability in a sea of unreliability.
2 - Coughlan - Tough as nails - took some big hits, gave a few of his own and got heaps of contested footy
1- Tivers - Lost points for allowing oponent Peter Bell 2 goals from contested marks [!!!], but was our one player who could deliver a penetrating, accurate kick for goal. We wouldn't have got as close without him.
3. Coughlan - Star
2. Johnson - thank goodness you and cogs were out there today.
1. Tivs - 4 goals and was clean with his disposal (unfortunately many of his teammates weren't)
In the most creditable loss all season, if that is possible ...
3 Tivvers - Polished finishing kept us in it when all around him struggled to deliver in the conditions.
2 Coughlan - This boy is toughness personified. Could easily have got the three id he's hurt them a bit more with his disposal.
1 Richo - I'm gonna do a rant on Richo on another post ... I'll save what I thought for there. He was very good today.
Some other great performances ... I thought our backline was fantastic, particularly Newman who murdered Farmer, and Duncan who turned back the clock and completeluy stitched Longmuir of the Justin variety. AK was alright too, as was Chaff.
Otto battled hard and probably beat both Sandilands and Simmonds on an individual basis, but the combination of both was a little overwhelming by game's end. Hurry back Staff.
Johnston was a good link man, although his kicking on the run was bordering on diabolical. Not quite as bad as Fiora's, however.
Notably, our "Big Four" from last week who shared 16 goals between them - Dutchy, Marty, Rodan and Krak - were relatively ineffective this week, and probably only provided us with about 3 goals. Marty underwent the "difficult second game".
Ty, Ty, Ty ........ Displayed a complete lack of footballing nous. Yes, yes ... I know ... petty, trivial, pedantic, pathetic decision-making on the part of the umpire. But he should have learned from the week before. To give away TWO "Alistair Nicholsons" at that stage of the game was unforgivable. Basically, he was sucked in by a player whom he'd beaten for the better part of the afternoon. Jeez I hope Danny tore him a new one afterwards ....
Most of the side gave a decent account of themselves or better today against the odds.
The only players to struggle were Nicholls (not up to it at AFL level), McGrath (a predictable fall to earth) and Bowden (useless yet again, had the people at the Wantirna Club going ape, with good reason).
Thank God for Johnno & Cogs. Without them it would have been a disaster. Still short on talent in the midfield to help these two. A MAJOR area of concern.
Great effort by Richo who continues outputting a high workrate, and the backline brigade were effective.
Fiora- unless he does something special between now and the end of the season, should be traded.
D-Rod showed some wonderful pace and skill in the game which deserves a mention, and Tivs 4 goals always kept us in it. Especially those 2 in quick succession which really got the Tiger fans excited!
3. Johnson
2. Coughlan
1. Tivandale
Coughlan was very close to getting three poits, but Johnson was a little better because of the amount of kicks. Rich just missed out on votes but he was our next best.
