No true stand outs IMHO

POTY
5, Mcleod
4, Edwards
3, Doughty
2, Reilly
1, Johncock

BTM

3, Rutten
2, Skipworth
1, Johncock

ROOKIE

Bock

Player Of The Year
5. McLeod - Played a consistent 4 quarters and was one of very few tonight to use the ball with penetration and accuracy, as well as break away from stoppages.

4. Edwards - Had a very good 1st half, faded in the 2nd but there was no doubting his ability to speed past opponents in traffic and use the ball well.

3. McGregor - Took some very good grabs today in contests, and I was frustrated when he wasn't moved to the forward line in the 3rd quarter to use some strong marking ability. Courageous effort.

2 Rutten - He did get 4 goals kicked on him, but he persisted and put in a really courageous effort. Did not seem intimidated by Hall one bit and always maintained a tight knit.

1. Mattner - Not his best game, but he kept Maxfield quiet and did a few positive things himself.

Best Team Man
3. Rutten - see above.

2. McGregor - see above.

1. Mattner - see above.

Rookie of the Year
Bock - I thought he led and marked well tonight. Was a little unaccountable on Goodes but still managed to prove that he is capable at AFL level. A pleasing effort.

POTY
5. Edwards - was great early and finished the game off ok
4. Macca - was happy with his solid 4 quarter effort
3. Doughty - had a few good touches and tried to set things up
2. McGregor - probably our best o/h mark - especially in a contest
1. Bock - thought he tried hard, was good early anf dod well against a good player in Goodes - apart fom when Schauble was on him!!

BTM
3. Edwards - really put in all night for the team
2. Clarke - worked hard as usual arounds the packs - copped some nice elbows fronm Doyle too!!!
1. Rutten - did a creditable job on Hall = apert from his holding the ball! - SOS though he did abn outstanding job - high praise!

R
Bock - just ahead if Rutten

HM
Watts - provided me with the most excitement all night - lit up a boring night!

POTY
5. Edwards - liked his game and the way he stuck at it
4. Macca - really think he is enjoying playing atm
3. McGregor - took some good grabs
2. Doughty - got a bit of the ball
1. Bock - Happy with hie endevour and overall improvement

TM
3. Rutten - worked hard on BBBH - and did some useful things - must be perservered with.
2. Johncock - fought hard close in and showed some great desperation.
1. Edwards - worked hrd on team things all night

R.
Bock - but Rutten could have got the point and if FW had grabbed that mark he might have scored it!!

POTY

5. Edwards - relished his on-ball role and earrned some hard balls in close. Clever game.
4. McLeod - mopped up well in defence and one of the few to break clear at times.
3. Doughty - one of his best ever games for the club. Went in hard and provided run.
2. McGregor - held the defence together with good support from Reilly and Rutten
1. Reilly - not quite as prominent as last week, but like Doughty showed courage in getting the hard ball.

Best Team Man

3. Rutten - had 4 goals kicked on him but worked hard all night and certainly wasn't disgraced
2. Doughty - courageous effort by a player not renowned for it, and rarely beaten.
1. Edwards - classy but gritty display from a very versatile player.

Rookie

Tossed up between Rutten, Reilly and Bock.

1. Bock - finally settled on him for a good display on a very good opponent in the hardest position to play - CHF

Would've given votes but I switched over to the Freo-Roos game instead and miss large portions.

I must say, why can't Wells just be sh1t for our collective peace of mind?

Ironic that on the same night a retired Carey watches us from the coaches box in a loss that saw our extremely slim finals hopes die, Wells has a stormer as his team shoot into the eight.

How can people be giving Reilly POTY votes and not give him rookie votes?

I'm one of the guilty ones and I think it's a fair question.

Can't answer for the others, but my rationale was that Reilly played well enough to be our 5th best player IMO.

But when it came to selecting the rookie, I went for Bock, who while he didn't play well enough over the 4 quarters to crack my best 5 players, played in the hardest spot on the ground at CHF, and did well enough to have the Browlow Medallist, Goodes, shifted from him.

A bit like allowing for the degree of difficulty when comparing two dives.

What is the world coming to? Doughty getting congratulated for his hardness!

BOG
5. Edwards - Clean skills all night.
4. Doughty - Got plenty of the ball & quietened Williams.
3. McLeod - Looks interested again, but still lazy at times with his kicking.
2. Clarke - Started our momentum in our best periods.
1. Reilly - not as dominant as last week, but handy follow-up game.

BTM
3. Edwards
2. Rutten - stuck to his task & provided some run out of defence where possible.
1. Johncock - fought hard, but needs some consistency as only played in bursts

BR
1. Reilly

POTY

5- Edwards, although his form tapered off a bit.
4- McLeod, pieces of brilliance coming back into his game now.
3- Doughty, tried hard in the midfield and was good for us, again.
2- Bock, see below. Bock Rules!
1- Rutten, why didn't Craig try him forward, like he said he would during the week?

BTM

3- Rutten, great effort on Hall, who SHOULD have only had two goals. Soft frees. DISGRACEFUL umpiring!
2- Skipworth, and why did Craigy keep taking him off?
1- Mattner, tackled hard again, good effort.

ROOKIE

Bockchoy- gave Goodes the run around, in the first half, at least! Well done!

**** off. He didn't do bugger all this game. Accept it and move on.

BTW, I'm not doing votes because the game morphed into a formless mess after the first quarter at times for me and I was more busy drinking beer and chatting with mates because it was such a sh*t game.

I wasn't going to do votes either. I guess you can't do anything if the coach keeps taking you off. He was good when he was on.

But worth 2 BTM votes? Come on. It's an insult to those who played hard and well all night.

Yes you can. Just don't expect any credibility here.

And yes, worthy of two BTM votes.

Crap.

if he is off the ground doesnt it mean he isnt doing good? Oh i see good at warming the bench so when the tired players that played a lot better came on for a rest it was nice and warm...
