Hard to tell, but malakai champion pretty good.
Hard to see after half time, needed my binocs.
But the general standard was pretty high, with kicking around the ground etc
Kicking for goals not so much, but the shitcanning of the cohort is rubbish imo

Can't say I've read any sh!tcanning of this WA cohort on here, and I read pretty much every post on the draft board.

Whilst I am not saying that the U18s aren't worth watching, I will acknowledge that I have said that I reckon it is pretty weak in terms of AFL prospects. The "top end" (late first, early second round) seems like Gerryen, Allan and Champion, and only Allan and Champion got academy invites. After that, maybe Van Der Stryf and Carthcart...maybe (they seem a bit vanilla for mine)? Of course there may be some bolters that come up but overall it doesn't feel like it has the same depth of other years.

Mogumber who do you think else should be on the radar?

Not here, but around the traps. I have a personal interest in the cohort, lets just leave it at that.
I thought the skills were good, in a very scrappy game. I will say that I've heard WA boys are the greatest improvers in the first year in the system, coz we don't get the $ like Vic does from their TAC sponsorship.

You and me both, and half a dozen other draft watchers, including in the media.

But that's not sh!tcanning anyone in particular, or the WA crop as a whole. No one said boo when, Vic Metro had a shallow crop a couple of drafts ago, or on SA's last couple of draft crops.

Things like this happen.

Have to wait for the squad mate. This is just all invitees and tbh I was impressed with their endeavour.
They are hungry and the one's I know very professional

Then why vent here?

Go and pull up who ever is around the traps.

G'day Mr Allan.
I thought the skills were good, in a very scrappy game.
Scrappy game and good skills don't tend to go hand in hand.
I will say that I've heard WA boys are the greatest improvers in the first year in the system, coz we don't get the $ like Vic does from their TAC sponsorship.
Vic country and WA boys, especially the WA country kids.

Vic Metro boys, particularly those that have been in the pathways from U12's, have access to better coaching and football education than pretty much everywhere else. That's something the other States and academies should aspire to, not get a chip on their shoulder about.

It's called money mate, you just keep raiding our cupboard just like all the AFL sponsored areas.
Just like the GST you mongrels take us for granted.
We'll keep bringing Bobby Hill, Shai Bolton, Charlie Cameron, Deven Robertson etc etc etc to the national stage.
Can't think of 1 Queensland player playing in WA

Let's just refresh the current status of the group with the current state squad and the current big footy ratings.

Well, I have expressed doubts that this age group is as good as previous years......look at the number of below agers in the squad.....that's a giveaway....and then factor in the over agers which will be added later. I hope to be wrong.

It doesn't help much if you say they were impressive but can't name who apart from Malakai who is one of the few already on the national radar.

But hoping for the best.

Souths have an over ager - Aiden Harvey, played in the 18s trial match. Hasn't played a colts game as yet, did play in the 2022 17s 'state game' at Joondalup. I thinks he's around the 195 mark.

I remember him from that 17's trial game and his name has stuck in my mind. A big guy...maybe 6ft4 I guessed he quit, like many do

Quite a few injuries to the squad too. Some long term. Been pretty devastating for a few of the boys. Ankle ligaments, broken hand, broken toe from cricket.

Apparently not. All i got was the 18s squad and a few ring ins. sorry
ok man...that's cool.....thank goodness you guys contribute to this thread because truth be told....it's a team effort in WA andI struggle to keep up.

The WAFL Colts squads are slowly being finalised. I'll post them in tradtional voting style as they come to hand. Some clubs have updated sooner than others. Some familiar names from state squads and previous colts seasons.
