If Fmac is really our 3rd choice ruck (considering he came in vs Sydney instead of Giles), I don't get why he's not the 2nd ruck at EP instead of Giles, if we want to develop him as a long term backup ruck option, shouldn't he be in the ruck full time if he can? It won't stop him from playing as a forward as well obviously. Giles doesn't need as much practice rucking as Fmac anyway, if we really need to have him rucking a significant amount each week as well, we could play him in the reserves instead. Surely EP won't suffer too much with Johnson (who could probably ruck on his own) and Fmac in ruck?

People who want lamb to get a game for the Eagles pay attention to his intent when he doesn't have the ball in particular when the opposition have it

You might understand why he's playing for east Perth and not west coast

18 months on and Lamb is exactly what his profile said. Who'd have thunk it :drunk:

Blakely still the correct choice.

Those who also watched him pre-draft thought his best could be the best from this draft. He's got that X factor about him which you can't teach. From what I recall, we weren't that keen on Blakely at all, whether that be a disposal or an attitude thing I don't know.

He needs to work more off the ball- so do lots of young KP's. But he shows lots of promise, and to be honest, we can afford to take a punt on a guy like him because our forward stocks are good.

I don't think he's ready for us yet, and I reckon that message is being passed down to him each week on what he needs to do to get a game with us. I'm more than happy to wait for a guy who could be a match winner for us in the future. If we can turn josh hill around, I have no doubt we can do the same for Tom as well.

Wouldnt expect to see X called up yet unless Ive over analysed Simmos comments last week. Said X wouldnt be considered until he got through a full game and that he was pencilled in for minutes over the weekend. By my interpretation he should be playing without managed minutes this week so may be considered after that?

Spot on. I'm sure there are a number of cases of KPFs taking a few years to mature.

For some reason when Lamb is involved the pitchforks come out.

inb4 - joke about Lamb on a fork

The reason I get annoyed with Lamb is that he quite clearly has the raw ability to be an AFL player and potentially a pretty good one, however, during games he looks lazy or disinterested at times which means he just has no impact

So the talent is there, it just needs to be unlocked

I also don't see him as a KPF - third tall at best although he could become a Gunston type forward of you class him as a KPF

Regardless of his likely role, he's in a position (forward target) where immaturity and propensity to drop the bundle isn't that uncommon.

There are still a number of forwards playing in the ones that tend to do this, and they aren't as young as Tom.

Re: the KPF thing - he's also probably a bit confused over what role he is meant to be playing, which I'm sure isn't helping his mindset.

It's just silly that he's hated on simply because he has talent. It's not like he was a top 5 pick, people just need to chill.

I think Blakely addressed more of a need at the time but he's hardly tearing the house down

McInnes is also next in line KPF. He needs time in both positions.

Is see that partingtons performances have got better in the last 3 weeks. Is that because he isn't being used on the inside or is he adapting to playing on bigger/mature players. I saw a bit of the wafl game on the weekend and he was impressive when i watched him play. Barney44 whats the chances of partington pushing for a debut this year. Do you think if he continues his current form for the rest of they year, he could push for a debut?

It's a long season and who knows if injury and form will open many spots in the first 22. I can't really see him pushing anyone out especially in two months when Sheed comes back but he would be pushing ahead of some of the depth players.

He's not a ruckman, he's a pinch hitting key forward. He will support Naitanui, Lycett and Giles but will never lead the ruck unless we have a horrific injury run. He could probably ruck more in the WAFL but they also might see the development of our ground level players feeding off a better ruckman in Johnson as more important than a player well, and likely to stay, down the pecking order.
