Gorter...pfft

Gorter and Snadden

Why do we keep using our first rookie pick on ultra-vanilla players?

Then we go risky with our earlier picks in the national draft (Lamb, Karps, etc).

Why don't we try doing the opposite and use our rookie picks for high risk high reward types?

I didnt mind the snadden pick, potentially something we lacked, doesn't seemed to have panned out,no excuses for gorter tho, unless we plan on moving McKenzie and Schofield this year

Too small to be a KPD anyway. Seems like an afterthought made in a hurry or perhaps something to appease East Perth.

Like Bedford and Papertalk?
Bedford was a delisted player so it's kind of moot. Like Bennell, Dick, JON, Morton he was more of a known quantity and we were relying on him somehow turning his career around.

Papertalk, sure. Watson and Bayok too although the Cat B thing made it an easy decision.

But I feel like overall we have tended to use our first rookie picks/PSD on players with no outstanding traits (Wilson, Hamp, Gorter) or players who we have delisted and want to put on the rookie list.

Could be the same as every team, I dunno. Just seems a trend. I'll compile some data after work and see how it looks

Not sure how it appeases east Perth, if we'd drafted someone else EP would've had another talent playing for them as well ad goiter

Makes them feel good because they got one of their own players drafted. They are being noticed and appreciated.

Individuals

Partington - 18k, 10hb, 2m, 3t, 4.2 - when you consider he only had 3 disposals at quarter time (which did include an excellent running goal from 35-40m off a boundary throw in) he overcame a quietish start brilliantly. In a dark weekend his game was a genuine bright spot. Comfortably EP's best player and was genuinely damaging to the point where he could have had another goal or two. Quite simply he's earn a game because it's really hard to comprehend what more he could be doing. At different times he was prepared to go face to face with former Freo s**tstain Ryan Crowley who was his normal ****head self so Parto gets my admiration for that too
**** me if Bassendean Oval isn't the place intelligence goes to die

Keys, next time join me on the outer wing for a bit of banter and intelligent conversation. :)

But I take umbrage at calling Crowley a s**tstain. I couldn't stand the bloke before he pulled on the magnificent black and white, but the way he has a crack at every player he can find, I find I am liking it a lot. :) :) :)

Snadden should get one more year. He was always going to be a project.
Agreed - he's not exactly being played in position at League level either by the sounds of it. Dominates in the middle at ressies so probably cant get in there to show us what he can do.

Your second paragraph doesn't fill me with confidence in regards to the first

Let's just say Crowley fits in at swans like a duck to water

It's the new me Keys. I normally hate outsiders in the Swans team, but i'm trying to be nice to everyone these days. ;)

Oh that, and despite the AFLs best efforts to make netball look a tougher sport than AFL, it is still a combative sport. ;)
