Folks, do any of you know if there is a web site where you can keep track of which eagles are playing for WAFL clubs, and where their performances are listed??
Not having access to the West Australian I currently have no idea of how some of eagles youngsters are going.
For example, Hunter was in the team a couple of weeks ago, but then missed a game through illness - since then, there is no mention of him - is he still ill? or back playing in the WAFL?

Check the WAFL website:

www.wafl.com.au

and then look at the statistics for each match and look for Eagles players. If they ain't there, they're either injured, an emergency for the main team, or playing reserves as a couple are (Seaby, + a couple of rookies).

Thanks for the info, had a look at the wafl site and saw that Hunter kicked 6 against Peel - hope he gets a call up this week against Richmond.

Yeah, I read that Hunter bagged six goals. Well done.
Still not sure what role he'd play in the side, but he'll definitely be pushing for selection.

Noticed that Glassy was one of Perth's best and even kicked a couple of goals. Hopefully Woosha sees the light.

The in's and out's should be interesting this week. Glass and Seira both put in solid performances and Hunter's 6 goals are tough to ignore. But after such a solid win would Whoosha want to tamper with the set up?

I think Carroll and Green for Gardiner and Glass should be the only changes. Siera has been very unlucky, i really want to see him get a run, but not at the expense of other players who have earned their spot.

I'm happy i'm not a selector.

I agree with that, D4E.

Green out for Gardy.
Carroll out for Glass

And I'd also drop Wooden for Humm.
Humm is going to be a fine player for the club, and he should be playing in the side.

We could possibly have our strongest line-up for the year next week.

Disagree with Wooden...he is playing great. No reason at all to drop him. I agree though that Humm needs an opportunity but not at the expense of a guy who has earnt his place in the side. Wooden is only young and could still become a regular for us downback.

I saw Hunter play and though he did kick 6 goals, I still did not think he was playing to the best of his ability. I would like to see him in the Wafl for a few more weeks to REALLY earn his place in the side.

With no disrespect to Peel, but Swans did play them after all and both sides are not in top form or anything at the moment. I think a few more weeks in the WAFL would do Hunter good.

Drop wooden for humm?? Wooden has added another dimension to that backline. I've seen Humm a couple of times this year in the WAFL and he barely looks like a WAFL player.

I think you might have the wrong man somehow schorner.

Not only was he impressive in the pre-season, his WAFL form as a small defender has been good:

Rd 1 vs WP:

12 possesions (6 kicks + 6 handballs)
1 mark
7 tackles

Rd 2 vs Subi:

13 possesions (12 kicks + 1 handball)
3 marks
7 tackles

Rd 3 vs SD:

20 possesions (18 kicks + 2 handballs)
3 marks
3 tackles
Listed as 5th best EP player on ground.

Rd 4 - Bye

Rd 5 vs EF:

19 possesions (13 kicks + 6 handballs)
7 marks
3 tackles

Rd 6 vs Perth:

21 possesions (11 kicks + 10 handballs)
4 marks
4 tackles

Rd 7 vs Claremont:

25 possesions (18 kicks + 7 handballs)
7 marks
6 tackles
Listed as 5th best EP player on ground.

Whilst his form isn't really good enough to be challenging Wooden, I would hardly say he doesn't at times even look a WAFL player.

In the pre-season games he played for us, he was quite impressive down back, playing his man well but sweeping up in defence. I reckon he could be a vital cog in defence in years to come.

I can spot Humm like I can a fan. I'm not doubting his commitment to the game - he throws himself around, which is why when you take a look at this figures, as you've so kindly provided, reveal impressive tackling statistics, but, he's got a long way to go before he'll be challenging Wooden. I was probably a bit unkind to suggest that he doesn't even deserve a game in the WAFL, but I was more trying to highlight what I think is the difference between him and Wooden because I'm sick and tired of people bagging him. But as far as Humm's seemingly impressive statistics go, I was at the West Perth, Subi, Swanies and Perth games and I've got nothing against him, I always like to see Eagles players do well in the WAFL, but he doesn't do much for me. His possessions are usually hurried, he doesn't kick to targets, he doesn't really provide much constructive run from defence, which is why in all fairness to him he hasn't worn an Eagles jumper this year in a game contesting for 4 points. And as for the possession statistics you've quoted, I don't know what they're really telling me because like other AFL players who come back to WAFL, his fitness exceeds WAFL players and he does get a lot of game time. Realistically, if he didn't get that much of the ball I think he'd be in danger of being dropped from the eagles squad.

Interesting. For some reason he's being bagged systematically by a group of East Perth fans (at their games). I think he's played quite well when I've seen him. I expect him to get games at some point in the year. Probably hasn't done enough quite yet, with the AFL players like Wooden going quite well.

Yes, I think Wooden has been terific and he's still young. He's added that bit of grit to the side which can be inspirational and his hands are very quick.
Humm has a lot of potential and his time will certainly come.

wooden has shown very good form in the last few weeks, which is satisfying due to some speculation over the break about him being delisted. humm is a going to be a great player, i think all west coast supporter will remeber his gutsy effort in the pre-season when he got knocked out.

but wooden is one of the few small defenders that we have. leave him in. he is a required player in the current team.

I am not suggesting that Wooden plays a similar role but I prefer him ahead of Merenda, Taylor or Banfield right now. He provides better team balance. Both Merenda, Taylor and Banfield have become one dimensional players and are in danger of being delisted at the end of the year in favour of young players needed for the future launch for the Premiership. I think that the middle group of Chambers, Williams, Embley, Wooden, Collica, Wirra, Gaspar, Cox and Braun who are all about the same age are stepping up. We now need room for the next group of youngsters. I would be looking to give a glimpse of Sampi , Humm and McDougall before I would persist with the abovementioned trio. We are not going to win a Premiership this year. So we must presist with developing the squad. But only if the young players deserve it. I like Wooshas policy of playing being picked on form regardless of reputation.

GO EAGLES!

Geez i doubt Merenda, Taylor and Banners are in danger of being delisted ONE EYE.... Merenda was quite good last season and his season this year has being interrupted with injury. Banfield is a bit down on form but is still an important part of our midfield, im sure he'll be back. Taylor is under a bit of pressure i thing, started the year alright but has since lost form and being dropped.

With Wooden playing well and guys like Green and Humm trying to get a shot at a small defender or extra midfielder, Taylor will have to work hard to get a spot back in the side. I doubt however that any of those three are in danger of being delisted.

WAFL report from the (disappointing) West Perth loss to Subiaco at Joondalup this afternoon re: the Eagles players. I missed the first quarter because I was in the bar watching the Eagles.

Sierakowski: played at CHF on Lynch and generally had the better of him (except the third quarter). Led well, took marks and kicked long. Wouldn't chase back much, always looked for the goals himself and abused his team mates if they didn't kick to him. Kicked several goals I think (not sure how many). Would have to be close to a recall with the Eagles half forward line looking pretty ordinary.

Lynch: was disappointed with himself today and had his head down a bit. Did get Siera under control in the third quarter and the Falcons led by 2 goals at 3/4 time. Kicks long, but rather high and inaccurate. Certainly tries hard and with maturity can hopefully play a role for us in the future.

Merenda: played in the centre for most of the day to get hold of the footy. Had a pretty quiet game and apart from the odd flash of inspiration was generally disappointing. Went missing in the last quarter when the game was there to be won, though not helped by Subi's last quarter ruck dominance. I wouldn't bring him back yet.

I'd also like to say that Luke Toia is an unpleasant poison dwarf who appears to be hated by West Perth and Subiaco supporters and players alike. The umpires love him though and gave him 4 dodgy free kicks in the last quarter alone. His mere presence near the ball was sufficient to generate a Subi free kick.
