Watching the game on ABC.

At quarter time.

Pat McGinnity looks very promising and Callum Wilson has held Chad Jones to one kick at quarter time.

McKenzie has done some very good things, and some very average things. Must be far more consistent as a key defender, but has shown good signs I think. Playing on Murphy and therefore is playing a far more shut-down role than the rebounding which seems to come more naturally.

Chad Jones has 3 goals, Callum Wilson has 12 possies and 7 marks and McGinnity has 14 possies. - All to half time.

Hows Fridgy Mc Fridge Fridge going?

he's kicked 10 goals from 3 touches, whilst taking 28 marks.

the game is about 3 minutes in.

another few minutes have passed and the score is:

Josh Kennedy 24.0.144
East Fremantle 24.1.145
East Perth 5.3.33

great game between Claremont & South Fremantle, shit, we were down by 39 points in the 2nd and now have the lead.

Just caught the last few minutes of the Tigers game, McGinnity was very good in extracting the ball from the packs, I was quite impressed. Looks to have an odd kicking style though from the couple I saw. LOL at Cones takes a mark less than 10m from goal & then passes off.

claremont win by 2 goals.

Cones with 5
McGinnity 31 touches, one of the best players on the ground.
thought MacKenzie was pretty good, great around the end when the pressure was on. made some good spoils
Thomson not sighted too much.

i read on EFH that JK was BOG with 19 touches and 3 goals.

jmac had it 32 times.

This is my take on players in the Perth v Swans game

Scott Selwood - has that extra yard of pace on most at WAFL, attacked the ball hard and often used as a linkman. Skills both sides of the bodies are quite good, for example took the ball on the wing in the first quarter and a teammate breaks at half forward for him so, without breaking stride puts it on the left foot and hits the HF on the lead. So many players would stop, prop and go back on to the right. Got through without being knocked out, so that's a good thing. Good game, was named in Perth's best. :thumbsu:

Will Sullivan - again his first half was very, very good. Worked hard around the ground and in the first went to FF and made a strong lead, marked and goaled. Faded in the second half, but kept trying and was eventually worn down by a more experienced player. Still quite a good game I thought.

Tony Notte - wait for it, wait for it people, there's a surprise here. I heard in scouting reports that this kid could play anywhere up the spine but have never actually seen it. Started on the wing, like the past couple of weeks and then dropped back as a spare man in defence with a fairly gusty breeze to the northern end. Got knocked off the ball on one occasion because he is too slight, which resulted in a goal to Perth, but did some good things as the loose man. Second quarter, Ransted is running amok for Perth at FF, kicked 5 in the first quarter I believe, so who gets swung to FB on him? You guessed it. My eyes just about popped out of my head, my breathing became laboured and my head was swirling, what are we doing I thought. Anyway, he reads the play quite beautifully, leaves his man at appropriate times and takes some good relieving marks. Then in the second half he starts behind or shoulder on shoulder with Ransted and starts making some terrific spoils. Ransted still kicked another 2-3 on him but twice he was burnt by attacking the ball and giving it off only for the Swans player to fall over and Ransted got the ball out of it. Wasn't named in Swans best players but I thought he did a terrific job in defence, especially after half time. :thumbsu:

Others that may be being looked at by AFL clubs - Wolfenden had a terrific day at the office. Quick, good skills and harasses like a terrier. Garlett was a little quieter than usual today, but still did some good things. Siekerka runs hard all day, as usual, kept trying. Seamus Young was not given an inch of room all day and Ross Young didn't stand out as much as normal to me.

Thanks for the report Chrsco they are always well worth the read, keep up the good work mate I know I appreciate it. :thumbsu:

Cheers Jezzza, I enjoy watching them, well most weeks.

One thing I forgot to add was Notte did the majority of kicking in, in the second half. I don't recall one missing a target.

I think I'm starting to understand how talented this kid is, honestly, some of those spoils were just fantastic and the kicking was pinpoint.

chrsco, how far do you think scott selwood is from a call up?

Great write up:thumbsu: btw

I'm not sure that he won't be protected for the remainder of the year. He will add pace to the eagles side, no doubt and he has that straight ahead style that I personally like, being old fashioned. However, based on todays game he was good, but not outstanding, so he would have to put a couple more together to get another go.

He's a bit like Notte, in that he is very talented IMO and has a lot of potential, but they just need that bit more bulk to hold their own at the AFL level. I know that doesn't answer your question but I reckon he might get 1 more game towards the end of the year, but not a lot more.
Of course now he will play every game and I'll look like a fool.:D
