I only caught the last quarter on the radio from yesterday's match. It was such a beautiful day I'd nearly contemplated taking the family down to watch the hitout. Sooooo glad I didn't. I don't think I could have endured another four quarters of supporter abuse...

Anway, it's Sunday and I've only just ventured on here to sift through the invective. What I take out of yesterday is:-

* We're higher on the ladder than Hawthorn after Round 1 :)
* The pre-season comp means nuttin. How tired was everyone yesterday afternoon - from both sides? Even Hawks v Geelong there were some tired bodies.
* Physically we may be 'up', but not mentally. The amount of pressured errors and bad decision making is at odds with the first 2 weeks of the pre-season and even the last 2 weeks of '08.
* It's crunch time already for some senior player - Johnson in particular, but also Bryan and Goldsack.
* The run-around-the-park at Gotsch's Paddock is not a good indicator for how ready our two's are to rejoin the senior team.
* The Pies play better when they're true to their natural gameplan - tough, one-on-one tacklers and long kickers, not zone defense or wannabe-Cats-handballers.

...and finally...

* Spending a pleasant day in the sun catching up with the family, getting some exercise and quality time is infinitely more pleasing than stewing over the results of the match.

By no means do I think next week will be a shoe-in, either. I can only imagine there will be some harsh reality checks this week at PieHQ and a more switched-on team will run through the banner next Saturday. A team that's more focussed on the way they go about their footy rather than just the win or loss. If we had won yesterday, it wouldn't have been a particularly convincing win anyway.

Enjoy this glorious Sunday, watch the GP (or some of the other matches - how are the DT points travelling so far?), have a BBQ, a quiet refresher and let's all start the week off on a happier note.

Cheers :thumbsu:

Gave me a good excuse to go out last night get drunk at a birthday party

come back here while the girls of the group got ready for the next stop, posting somewhat coherently, then more drinking in the city.

Still though i have this strong anger to people wearing green shirts:mad:

Wouldn't be surprised to hear Grand Prix officials being randomly set upon by Collingwood supporters today in a case of mistaken identity :)
Im working this arvo, so dont wear green in any target stores in the northern suburbs. Treat it as a game i wont say which one;)

Just remember, atleast we don't support Richmond.

Very good point.

A good remedy for a loss can be to take a quick peep at the Richmond board to read all the ferals tear shreds out of their coach, players, fellow supporters, club officials and anything else wearing the yellow and black.

I highly recommend it:D

How's that different than this board in the last 24 hours?!?

Agree on all counts except the "we are not Geelong" part. Well, we're not Geelong, that's true. But what you're implying I slightly disagree with. We can look fantastic using the handball game through the corridor. There are a few weak links that make it fail, but when guys like Thomas, Pendlebury, Davis, Medhurst and a few others are linking up, we look brilliant streaming through the centre. Obviously not as good as Geelong, but we definitely need to use it more.

Note: This doesn't mean our dinky handball game that involves going backwards and in circles, I'm talking about the run through the corridor.
