The Adelaide Football Club can confirm that Taylor Walker today had a precautionary knee scan.
Crows GM Football Administration Phil Harper said Walker, who recently increased his training workload, reported some knee swelling after training on Monday.
"That's not uncommon with these sort of knee injuries but it was decided to have a scan to check," he said.
"The knee is structurally sound and we are confident that there will be no setback to his rehabilitation program."

I am praying that it's not another Hentschel. There's been heaps of rumours around that the damage to Walker's knee was fairly significant, this is definitely not a good sign.

It is not really a terribly bad, or unexpected sign though.

It is not really a terribly bad, or unexpected sign though.

Except that we have a rich history of short-forecasting returns. I recall vb being out for something like 3 or 4 before he had some form of nerve isolation surgery. Our players don't make it back anytime prior to expectations. We always frukc this up. We are either habitual liars or have a less than adequate injury rehab system.

That's not rumours, it's common knowledge that Tex's knee surgery was more complexed than a traditional recon that results from a ruptured ACL

Even prior to Tex's recon to repair his ACL he had to undergo an initial operation using a tendon of a deceased person to repair a torn lateral collateral ligament

Like Hentschel the damage to Tex's knee was compared to being in a car crash

I'm struggling to remember hentschels initial recovery in comparison to Tex's? Was he having setback after setback right from the get go? Was the initial diagnosis of hentschel's knee more pessimistic than Tex's? Would be heartbreaking if it becomes an issue for the rest of his career

Hentchel couldn't even have his reconstruction until six months after his injury because he snapped a bone off his knee joint and that needed to be fixed and let heal first.

Tex had two ligaments go and was a bad injury but nowhere near Hentchel in terms of severity.

I saw Tex training before Christmas and if he doesn't have any major setbacks I think he can play some good footy in 2014.

From memory, Modra had similar scans about 8 weeks before his return to the AFL too. Not unusual

However reading the thread title made poo appear

Sorry for the intrusion do you guys think this minor setback will have the crows easing him back a little slower than first expected?

This guy is a real talent gently gently i say

I would think we will be extremely cautious with Tex given his enourmous talent and value being a key forward. Just hope he gets back to his best.

At least with the reserves setup now both SA teams can really manage game time & workload for guys coming back from major injuries, He'll come back well i think

As one of my final ever posts on BF I just want to say I hope Tex recovers well and returns bigger than ever. AFL needs more players who have character, skills and bring fans to the game. Get well soon Tex.:thumbsu:

Don't think it was VB, but I do recall a player in a situation you've described. Can't remember who it was.

I remember Ben Hart missing almost an entire season due to fossilised hamstrings, having spent the entire year as being listed as a 1-2 week injury.

I did have precautionary in the title!

VB in 2009 ended up missing a lot longer than we were told
