Wallace and Walls Comments

Some worrying comments by two very experienced men which should be taken on board by those who pull the strings at Freo.

I love it this could really work in our advanteg this weekend. It should be used as motivation in my opinion criticsm like this ofter spurs teams to prove their doubters wrong.

It is a pity that they havn't (by their own admission) watched too many Freo games this year. Their observations would have been quite fair loast year but this year we have gone man on man more often than not and that is what has made us look like we have stalled.
Sometimes you have to go back a bit to go forward and I can see us being far better when the game is less free flowing.
The improvement this year are that the defense is tighter, we are a lot better in the clearances and are one of the top tackling teams.
How that can be conbtrued as soft is beyond me.
The game against the Bombres will be a litmus test of how we are placed.

Wallace would have watched all our games and he wasn't neccessarily bagging us... and his comments are fair enough and have merit.

Fair comment.

It's amazing this week how the media have jumped on the story about Freo being soft, but it has shielded teams that have achieved less this season from media scrutiny. Who said the media don't create the agenda!!.

Walls is a complete moron.. i love it when ever someone brings up his contradictions.. read a few of them on the AFL forum.

Last year he was talking about collingwoods non-reliance on superstars, then this year he says they have an over-reliance.

Another was during a game where it said it was suicide to play a certain player on someone (sorry, cant remember names), he did something good and he exclaims what a bold move it was, eventually he gets beaten and Walls reverts back to the 'i told you it was a bad move' mode.

Wallace is a good media personality though and is usually pretty on the money. I always find it hard to take his criticisms of other teams and especially coaches (Frawley) when it's obvious he's dead keen for another senior position.

I've watched "On the Couch' all year, and one thing I've noticed is for about 6 of every 8 games they talk about, the first thing Walls says is "Well, I didn't actually see the game but...." or "I only saw the first quater of this game but....".

Dead set, for someone paid to comment on the AFL, who works at a footy station, you'd think get around to watching the tapes.

Walls is a joke! I never take any notice of what he says about football. I think its safe to say that in this case he seen Wallace's comments and decide to hitch a ride.

Robert Walls knows his footy, if you read closer he says that the Dockers do not have the physicallity side to enable them to be a Saint Kilda or a Brisbane. It is an area he feels you all fall short in. The same I can say about the eagles. He is entitled to an opinion just as you and I are and getting defensive about your club isn't knew, I am all the time, but, inadvertantly you have to draw a line in the sand and realise where Wallsy is coming from and take heed of his critisism and proove him wrong, but you must do it for your selves because in the cold hard light of day he doesn't give a geepers about the shockers yet y'all do

That's the biggest joke I've ever heard. Have you actually listened to him? Did you hear him commentating in the 2002 Grand Final? He is pathetic.

Not to mention the fact that he had openly admitted that he hasn't seen too many dockers games, so how would HE know how we're going on field?

That is the point, what he said might be a very valid point (we must prove him wrong), but he should be more professional by reviewing all games before commenting.

The media comments should be used as an incentive.

And speaking of contradictions - Id be interested to hear what Dockers suppporters thought of George Grljusich.

Note the opinion pieces he's submitted on the 21st of May, and then a week later.

In the first article he's clearly questioning the courage/commitment of some of the Dockers players, then a week later, he's bagging walls/wallace for doing virtually the same thing...I assume its ok for George to do it because he's from WA but since Walls & Wallace are Vics it means that they are just "grandstanding Victorians with a blinkered view of football" ???
