Meh...forward? Hughes, Morton and Reiwoldt. Until one of these players goes bust, we can't recruit anymore.

Midfielders....wouldn't hurt to get Kerr or something. But a team like Collingwood will be willing to offer more/he's in contract it's too hard.

Ruckman...Warnock would be nice, but he's very young.

I am still not convinced on Hughes. He did have a couple of good games and then fell off the radar again. Morton is not a key forward. While Reiwoldt is more of a natural footballer than an athletic one. I can not see him being the focal point in our forward line because he is not big enough to be a Lockett or Rocca type forward and he is not athletic enough to be a Richo, Nick Reiwoldt or Franklin type. His main asset is general skills and football brain.

I agree. I'm not sold on Hughes yet either. Anyone can lead out, take a mark, goi back and kick a goal. Just ask Quinten Lynch. Hughes needs a few more strings to his bow to be an AFL player.

With the way the board have now structured our club I do not believe that Wallace will get much of a say if we trade picks or not. It will be up to the recruiting staff and whoever is the new footy director.

Wallace can get ****ed. What is the point of having a list manager if the Coach thinks he can trade our picks. We need to maximise our picks.

Here are a few trade proposals I would be happy with if we were to trade away our first couple of picks:

1. Our first & third picks to the Saints for Kosi and their second round pick. We would then pick up a 26 year old 198cm 98kg ruckman/forward while having 2 picks around the 25-30 mark.

2. First and second round picks to Freo for Robert Warnock, David Mundy and their 3rd round pick. We would gain a young ruckman and another quality ball user in Mundy as well as a pick in the low 40's.

3. First & second round picks to Geelong for Brent Prismall, one of Dawson Simpson (206cm/103kg ruck)/Scott Simpson(196cm/92kg forward)/Dan McKenna(195cm/85kg forward) and their first round pick.

4. First & second round picks to the Hawks for Beau Dowler & Brent Renouf and their first round pick.

Considering none of these trade have any hope in hell of getting done I just don't see why we would be even considering trading away our early picks. The only player I would be tempted to trade these picks away for is J.Brown and even then I would be hesitant considering he is approaching 28 and wants a 5 year big money deal to leave the Lions.

I say hold onto the picks this year and get the best talent we can get with our picks. Then in the next few years when we have a heap of talented youngsters who can't get games we will then have currency to use to try and lure picks away from the expansion teams who will have most of the first 20 picks between them.

Would I be mistaken in presuming the new GC team would be more than likely to trade away quite a few of their picks for mature aged players, or will they have a roster of 20 year olds?
The way I understand it, they will be able to approach any uncontracted players in the year before they enter. So next year GC17 would be able to approach any player out of contract and offer them a contract to join them, they would not have to offer anything to the players current team.

However I could be mistaken so don't take it as gospel.

Lets be honest.

We have a team right now that is very young and raw, with plenty of kids still to come as well.

Would it hurt, really, to use our top draft pick to get a Daniel Kerr to the club? Somebody who could DEFINATLEY add another string to our bow.

Our club lacks big bodies, and a touch of class. A genuine matchwinner. Kerr would all of these qualities. :thumbsu:

don`t know about that Tugga ... he is what he is and he is good at it .

He just needs to get more consistent at what he does

a more dominant mid-field will help his cause no end ... i think the club will be patient with him

I will spew if we trade our early picks. Don't care who it is. No club is going to give up a young gun. Considering we are a young side and realistically will not be a major contender for a flag in the next two years why do it. Can you imagine the uproar if we trade pick 6/7/8 for a kid who turns out to be a Palmer/Ebert.

This draft we must look for quality finishers. Browny was a big loss tonight. Nobody seemed to be able to put the ball through the big sticks. Geelong had too many avenues to goal to defend. Forget about one gun player. Mooney didn't destroy us, nor did Ottens or Lonergan. So forget J Brown and just keep getting quality 10 year players.

Only a fool who hasn't watched the last 2.5 decades of the tigers would advocate trading our first round pick.

I think we should keep the top pick but consider dealing our 2nd and 3rd rounders for an established player that fills a need.

Thank Christ you don't have a say!
