This is the thread for discussing the War in Ukraine. Should you want to discuss the geopolitics, the history, or an interesting tangent, head over here:

If a post isn't directly concerning the events of the war or starts to derail the thread, report the post to us and we'll move it over there.

Seeing as multiple people seem to have forgotten, abuse is against the rules of BF. Continuous, page long attacks directed at a single poster in this thread will result in threadbans for a week from this point; doing so again once you have returned will make the bans permanent and will be escalated to infractions.

This thread still has misinformation rules, and occasionally you will be asked to demonstrate a claim you have made by moderation. If you cannot, you will be offered the opportunity to amend the post to reflect that it's opinion, to remove the post, or you will be threadbanned and infracted for sharing misinformation.

Addendum: from this point, use of any variant of the word 'orc' to describe combatants, politicians or russians in general will be deleted and the poster will receive a warning. If the behaviour continues, it will be escalated. Consider this fair warning.

Finally: If I see the word Nazi or Hitler being flung around, there had better have a good faith basis as to how it's applicable to the Russian invasion - as in, video/photographic evidence of POW camps designed to remove another ethnic group - or to the current Ukrainian army. If this does not occur, you will be threadbanned for posting off topic

This is a sensitive area, and I understand that this makes for fairly incensed conversation sometimes. This does not mean the rules do not apply, whether to a poster positing a Pro-Ukraine stance or a poster positing an alternative view.

Behave, people.

Apparently Zelenskyy still hasn’t got a suit!

"We gather here today because this is a once-in-a-generation moment for the security of Europe and we all need to step up,"
The four-point plan consists of:

  1. Providing ongoing military aid to Ukraine and intensifying economic pressure on Russia for as long as the war continues
  2. Ensuring Ukraine’s sovereignty in peace negotiations, with Ukraine guaranteed a seat at the table
  3. Creating European safeguards to prevent any future Russian invasions, should a peace agreement be reached
  4. Forming a “coalition of the willing” to protect Ukraine and maintain peace in the country.

Trump won't last long going down this path as a US president.

How much evidence of collusion with Putin/Russia would be needed for impeachment / removal? Is he the next Nixon?

Can't trust Putin

This is often overlooked by the vatniks in this thread.

Good to see Europe and the rest of the world stepping up, ignoring Trump.

Not long now before Donnie can say to Vlad "hey look, I tried everything to help you. it hasn't worked, time for you to give up".

Russian and putin apologists won't like this. They hate the truth

TRump and Shady Vance were apparently given documents with this information before the meeting but conveniently chose to ignore it. That’s what Velensky was trying to make clear - Putin cannot be trusted. They should have been well aware of it anyway. The USA “leadership” are officially the baddies. Even China didn’t side with Russia in the recent UN resolution.

Turkey is all in supporting Ukraine against fascist Russian invaders.

I'd suggest Erdogan is unhappy about the treatment Crimean Tartars have received first from the Soviet Union prior to transfer to Ukraine SSR and secondly by Russians since the 2014 invasion.

No Hungary, I wonder what Hungarians think of that considering the 1956 uprising against Russia.

The Baltic countries, which have been among Ukraine's staunchest supporters throughout the full-scale invasion, were not among the invitees, reportedly leading to Starmer issuing an apology.

The support of Baltic states is never in question after what the Russians did to them in the USSR era courtesy of them doing a deal with the Nazis.

Notice the change in tone after Europe steps up to the plate, sidelining the US

From Europe should step up to Europe are now war mongers because they actually stepped up.

Always easy to spot a Kremlin mouthpiece vatnik from a mile away.

How annoyed Putin must be that his favorite asset is in place at the White (Shite) House and yet he is going backwards in Ukraine, all the while destroying Russia.

We’ e always known what side Trump is on. It’s a shame MAGA are so blinded

Russia not far off a million casualties on their side in the war now.

It can't be long before putin has to start to conscript men from Moscow and St Petersburg, and this will not go down well there.
They was happy all the while men from Eastern Russia were the casualties, but won't be happy when their son, brothers and husbands are called up and are casualties all for putin's ego.

Did any single country ever benefit from the US ‘backing’ them?

Russia certainly knew if they dug in long enough, america would lose interest

*except for global conflicts
Here’s the dumb arse thing about that.

Russia has been a historical enemy of the us for near a century.

The US - for absolute peanuts - and I mean peanuts. All the bullshit costs they have listed are replacement costs, not 20-30 or 40 year old weapon systems that actually cost money to demob.

The us has utterly degraded all the Soviet war stocks for cents in the dollar and no boots on the ground.

If you had have offered Reagan this he’d have laughed himself to sleep for the last 3 years …..
