Toast Warren Tredrea - Elected to the Port Board (Football discussion only)

Former Port Adelaide footballer Warren Tredrea has avoided a multi million-dollar legal bill for his failed Covid-19 challenge, with a judge sparing him from having to pay Channel 9’s court costs.
“The order of the court is that there is to be no order as to the costs of the proceedings.”
Justice Kennett’s decision means Tredrea will only have to pay for his own legal bills, and Nine will foot the cost of their successful defence of his claim.

I've said it before, Tredders is part of the team now. That doesn't mean he's "one of them" but it does mean he has a role to play in being constructive and trying to help from within. You can't come into a team and start publicly slagging them off like you're not a part of it. Tredders is an experienced leader and knows success. He's doing what he thinks is best for the club. His role is to make sure we have an honest, experienced voice at the table. His job is to communicate that internally. You can't have board members publicly slagging off the club in the media, that's doesnt help anyone.

I'm still hoping that Tredders is playing the long game, but comments from some posters that he may have joined the `all in the garden is lovely' group, has dented my confidence in him just a tad.

those posters are stupid people

Anyone who expected him to maintain the same public persona and outward talking points after being elected to the board of a football club that were:

• openly hostile to him and his candidacy,
• threw every obstacle in his path,
• and then made him sign up to whatever is in the board member charter,

Is either disingenuous or naive.

He has to gain the trust of potential allies before they’ll so much as listen to him, let alone potentially agree with him, and then perhaps agitate for change.

If he was elected President (impossible) that’s a different story.

This clubs diabolical position calls for a complete outing of those responsible for the onfield dilemma that we are in.
These people have infiltrated positions in this club and have sat on their hands while the rot has infiltrated the heart and soul of this club.
Koch is a snake and having WT sit at the table subjected to the majority eases the pain for them of being called out publicly. Stand up Warren and call these imposters out.

Doesn't work like that mate. That's why you have external reviews. If you wanted him to do that he'd be best served staying in the media. Calling it out is easy, he's done it. Trying to actually make something better with skin in the game is another thing altogether.

“We got beaten by a better team and Crows have worked us out.”
“Midfield forward connection is poor, needs to improve.”
“Our reluctance to hit the lead up.”
“No shots inside 30 meters.”
“Getting into each other’s space.”
“Personnel. Forwards and mids need to get together and understand how they play, kick.”
“Need to learn how technique of kicking to Dix is different to kicking to Marshall.”
“Didn’t get our high risk high reward game right, pressing high.”

A Crows supporter rang in and says a showdown is as important or almost as important as a GF.🤣

Didn't we a play a showdown grand final in 2006 when we knocked off the top 2 crows whilst being nowhere near finals?

It was refreshing hearing someone from within the club openly and at stages pretty strongly admit and breakdown all the issues with the way we are playing. Thought he answered most of the callers criticisms well, basically agreed and wen't on to criticise more himself.

Can only assume he's doing this behind the scenes too.

Can also assume Ken would hate it.

Also thought Tim's comments were telling, though still restrained (unfortunately). Kept saying this was groundhog day and these same issues have been plaguing us for years without bring rectified

Possibly the first time in a while someone at board level taking it to task, good on him.

The fact he says he watched training etc. makes me think it would be a little bit of inferred pressure that possibly we haven’t had in a while, I mean does Cardone watch training? Holly? I doubt it.

A little bit of pressure doesn’t hurt.

Anyone can watch itraining but Tredders brings lived experience and technical knowledge to that observing. You can tell he is itching to be allowed some input. Pride of those involved will prevent that.

Still, inferred pressure would already be up Ken's goat a little. Having the guy who said your job was untenable watching over you whilst you fail at all the big games must be irritating.

Perhaps that's why the guy looks dejected and is less arrogant this year. Not giddy after losses. It's like he's actually being performance managed and is finally being held accountable behind the scenes with the presence of Tredea on board and he know's he's ****ed, and his time is coming to an end.

But people will say we are 5 and 3, in the 8. They will say it's far from diabolical and to call for Hinkleys sacking now is ludicrous and a personal agenda. Forget the last 11 years of mediocrity and the fact that Hinkley is the only coach in the history of world sport to be given a reign that long without the ultimate success - no one in the media will mention that (apart from David King) maybe. Tredders has to get the timing right and it's too early now. If the losses keep mounting, with maybe a thrashing or 2 and a loss to a poor side like the Hawks or North Melbourne, then he might be able to speak up

I think it's going to be hard for Tredders to convince the board to take action if we make finals. Our draw is difficult enough that we will struggle to make finals but it will be a close thing. Historically when it's been a close thing we usually miss.

If we were to finish 7th or 8th and go straight out in an elimination final, I could see a formalisation of the succession plan with next year being Hinkley's last. If we miss finals, I can see Tredders doing what he was put on the board to do and further elevating his status as an icon of the club.
