West Coast Eagles youngster Beau Waters has earned the National's Rising Star nomination for round 18.
The 18-year-old South Australian debuted against the Bombers in round three and Sunday's clash with the Western Bulldogs was his seventh match of the year.
He has maintained a spot in the team's best 22 for the last three weeks, has improved with every outing and played the best game of his young career against the Bulldogs.
Waters picked up 25 possessions and took eight marks against the Bulldogs, earning the praise of his coach John Worsfold.
"He's very confident in attacking the football, and he's using the ball well, generally. I'm really pleased with the way he’s coming along," Worsfold said.
He received similar words of encouragement the last week from Port Adelaide coach Mark Williams, who said the Waters had a 'terrific future'.
Waters was the club's first selection at the National's AFL Draft in 2003, taken with the 11th overall pick.
He is the club's fourth nominee, following on from Brent Staker, Mark Seaby and Sam Butler last week.
Our 3rd in 4 weeks. The eagles must be doing something right by our youngsters who are performing well now
