Hopefully Milera bursts on the scene and shows signs to be Wingard/Gray type through the midfield for 2017 onwards. Pretty unrealistic. Think he's a potential jet but you have to give him 50 games to be a consistent A grade mid.

Even if he plays every game this year and next (highly unlikely) he won't ve ready until well into 2018, probably 2019.

Reality is we need to buy a mid next year - no getting around it imo

Has anyone mentioned Neale from Freo? Seems to get it and use it ok, I'll just duck out and check on his contested marking stats. Then we can make an informed judgement.

i'm more worried about how he'll go defending Buddy one on one, had a bunch of goals kicked on him last time

We need him to be a high level mid and another high level mid to come in at end of year

Then we are some chance to give a top 4 a crack but not otherwise realistically

Just needs to work on his positioning and he'll be an awesome backup for Tails and Harto. If needed there it would allow us to use Shaw's size to advantage in an inside mid role.

Would only consider if he can cover sauce in ruck.

Contested marking is the key! ;)

And what the hell use is 27 poss per game when they're collected by a sub 180cm man?

Sorry I will clarify, I didn't mean/say Wingard/Gray output, I said/meant a Wingard/Gray type ie has ability to run through the midfield (centre square) as well as up forward and wing (like Wingard).

I agree we need to bring in another very good mid. That was the point of my post.

Would be handy if Freo have a poor year by their recent standards and really hit the wall hard. Sandi, Pav, MJ would all be finishing up pretty soon, would be looking pretty grim for Freo.

Meanwhile if our young list can make another finals appearance, would be very enticing if I was in Neale's shoes..

Freo are starting to resemble us during the Craig era - awesome midfield, but not enough weapons up forward when it matters.

Their tall stocks are going to be dire within a year or so without bringing in experienced kpp prayers.

Stating this knowing il get backlash as this was a pre season game against a sub sanfl standard side, but Milera reminds me of rioli. He does so much when he has the ball. Every possession counts for him. I can't wait to see if this occurs when we play AFL standard sides.

I am not hearing anything bad about him and from what I saw in the SANFL last year, this kid has x factor to burn.
