Biggest club in the country yet our womens team is pus.

Thank goodness we have the men's and WAFL teams to show them how it's done!

I haven’t watched much of the eagles but remember seeing Dana hooker from the first couple of seasons.

She looked like she was way more hesitant then when I remember her last playing, she was a great midfielder in seasons 1 and 2 and did see the improvement back then. As you seemed to play a fast run and gun style.

Not sure what has happened since as it just seemed the girls were hesitant all clumping together, several times saw the girls alll clumping on the offfenaive side and no one on the defensive side. Also so many broken tackles, not sure.

I always thought behind sa wa footy would grow the fastest as all I hear is what a strong womens comp you guys have compared to say Queensland or nsw.

The simple truth is the AFL have royally screwed this up. Expanding the AFLW to 18 clubs on such a short period of time has completely compromised the quality and talent available to clubs. What makes it even harder for West Coast is that we can only really draft and recruit from within our own state due to zero money in the game to ask players to relocate across the country.

Add in the fact that Fremantle were already established and thus has deeper WA talent than we do and that we were raided by other clubs during the off season and is it any wonder why we suck?

It’s a joke of a competition and it will be a long time before the talent available nation wide can be evenly distributed across 18 clubs.

I feel sorry for the girls, it’s truly a shit situation to find themselves in.

Its not the rate of expansion, but the lack of a mechanism to equalise talent spread, an inevitable and unavoidable consequence of semi pro sport.

In my opinion, delaying the expansion makes it much worse, not better, because it would have given established clubs several more years to grab all the best juniors coming through and establishing them in their club.

Take the Eagles for example. If the league had delayed giving WC a license until next year, then Freo would have Roberts, Thomas, Lewis, Rowley. Basically, every decent young player on our list, would be on Freos list, and every spud on their list would be in the WAFLW (and would then probably be on our list, next year). Ditto, Melbourne would have some of the good young players that expansion clubs have gotten over the last few years.

In this scenario, a WC playing Melbourne next year faces a bigger hill than this year. Melbourne would be stronger, and we would actually be weaker.

Instead of expanding slower (and making it worse), they should have introduced 4 or 5 fully professional spots on each list, and expanded faster.

Clubs like Melbourne have more good players than they could give those spots to, which means its then possible for clubs like WC to start approaching players and offering attractive deals to get the right players.

Talent is a issue but there is basically no system, that I can decipher, to anything we are doing on the field.

When the girls haven't been equipped with a plan and they have no idea what the opposition are doing to pull them apart is a massively compounding factor and one we should be able to work on.

Melbourne's work around the stoppages was ridiculously superior. Our girls didn't have a chance to lay a tackle because they were completely bamboozled.

Globetrotters vs Generals level
