He's Judd like, to have a player like Tom at our disposal for the next 10 years is pivotal to this clubs success. The club knows we can't match the GWS offer, we can't even come close.

In my opinion Tom's decision will map out the MFC's future for the next 15 years. Melbourne finally has a legitimate super star on there hands, we cannot lose this guy.

The Melbourne Footy club has to move heaven and earth, do everything, exhaust all options to keep this Jet.

His professionalism and mind set on and off the field for a kid his age is like no other. And guess what guys he's back! First game back and he turns it on like it never went out and along with this burst of form comes the media speculation. It's going to hit the papers hard, so what can we do?

We the supporters can do something. I'll donate cash, I'll march down streets.... Anything to keep the boy.

Re: We can't lose Tom.

Completely agree mate. Considering it was his second competitive game back from a two month knee injury he was brilliant last night.

We have to throw the kitchen sink at him NOW.

Re: We can't lose Tom.

To paraphrase K.Rudd, keeping Tom Scully is 'the moral imperative of this century.'

Interesting DB said last night something along the lines of 'Trenners and Scully will play 14 or 15 years together'

Could be a) that DB has some inside knowledge B) DB is trying to put the pressure on Scully and force him to stay or c) that Trengove and Scully will both go to GWS and we'll get donuts in return.

Personally I think it's B

List the things you'd do to keep Tom

Streak the Olympic Opening Ceremony

Take Kyle Reimers to the movies... Random but he's a weird dude

Bails on SEN this morning (or maybe MMM, been flicking back and forth...), was asked something along the lines of:

"<irrelevant journo preamble> ...you must really hope Tom will stay at the club Dean?"

He answered, straight away:

"No, I don't hope he'll stay. He is going to stay, and will be playing for this club for the next 13 years"

Not sure on the exact wording, but sounded very confident.

I have settled nicely into the comfortable belief that he will stay. And I believe that strongly.

Re: We can't lose Tom.

We can't and I am quietly confident that we won't. No source, but I'll be shocked if he makes the decision to go.

Re: We can't lose Tom.

If we lose him, it sets our team back so much. Virtually no chance of a premiership in the next 5 years if we do.

STAY!

He is staying, you can see it from the insiders and their reactions to any questions.

On a side note, he showed me last night that he is a great leader, watch the replay and check him out around stoppages, bossing Moloney around!!!:eek::eek:

I think with the Stynes situation with everything that the chances of Tom
leaving are next to none.

The way Bailey speaks and the way Scully acts, my doubts are vanishing :thumbsu:

*touches wood*

The best way to keep him is for the club to keep winning games and to keep playing hard, competitive footy. Make him see on the field that his future is with this club.

A bit of extra cash won't hurt but the kid bleeds football and we need to make sure he sees his future here rather than out in the weeds of GWS.

Can't believe he had that kind of impact after a 2-3 month layoff and only a few minutes running around for Casey last week. It was a freakish performance and something not many players, even the genuine superstars, can do. Remind me how old he is again?

I personally think he will stay too.

Not only is he valuable as a player, he has leadership written all over him. He will set standards that other players need to follow.

Trengove, Mckenzie, Gysbert will make us competitive in the midfield but Scully makes us a great midfield. Scully needs to sign.

Scully will be difference between us been a premiership threat and a mid top 8 team.

Close to our most important player heading to the future. I'm confident he will stay. I just can't imagine him facing the media after signing with GWS and giving any explanations other than money.

Correct. The usual suspects would be:

"I felt like it was time for a new challenge". Fail.

"I wanted to be close to my friends and family". Fail.

"It was an exciting new opportunity for me". Fail.

"I felt I'd achieved all I could at the Demons". Fail.

"I prefer the lifestyle up there". Fail.

"I'm a mercenary for hire at the highest price". Success.

I think he'd be a great player wherever he goes, but his reputation as a person would never recover. He'd carry a bigger stigma than any player who's ever changed teams because he'd never achieved anything at his first team. I hope that's reason enough for him to stay with us.

Bailey said Cam Bruce would definitely stay, too. I only saw it on tv so I might have missed something, but the after match celebrations were curious. Everyone was getting into it except Scully. Everyone really reacted to Bailey except Scully. I know he's a footy nerd and likely an introvert -- but it just seemed strange. Maybe it was just that he hadn't been playing in the team while it was being battered. Maybe there's something more.

Wouldn't look too much into that. Chris Judd barely smiled after the Eagles won the flag! Scully is in the same vein. No fuss. Just plays footy.

Scully sang the song with gusto, and I seem to remember him hugging Dean? My memory may have failed me
