Josh Fraiser has had a good year, but we need another experienced ruckman to share the load and give Josh a chance to go up forward!!! There has never been a better chance to get a good quaility ruckman, Gardiner needs a fresh start in another state, Collingwood should take a punt and do their best to trade and get him over!!!! He is out of contract but they will need to negotiate some how to ensure no one else will get him!!!!

We recruited well over 2004 and 2005 and have enough good kids coming through the system, time to do some trades and try and get 1-2 experienced players into the starting 22!!!

Further more, they can shave a few more people off their list.

-Walker
-Rowe
-Fanning
-Richards

Gardiner is no longer a ruckman.

when was the last time gardi was actually a good quality ruckman???

back in 03 he was the best ruck in the league, but since then he has been injured and generally rubbish. Would be a big risk

much rather look elsewhere unless we get him for nothing, the kangas have plenty of young kids who could be a show, they have hale, petrie, mcintosh, c.jones, moran who would be vying for a spot in the ruck, could offer one of them a bit of cash and say u will form the pies ruck combo with fraser.......

Going through the clubs there are a few ruckmen we could get:
Adelaide: Biglands, Meesen - they have alot of ruckmen
Brisbane: Wood - Although they don't have many ruckmen
Essendon: Laycock perhaps? But he is a bit too skinny and if he were to improve in the first place would be too much like Fraser. We need a big bodied ruckman who is a good tapper.
Fremantle: J.Longmuir? Too expensive most likely.
Geelong: Blake?
Hawthorn: Campbell would be perfect but with Everitt going they would want to keep him.
Kangaroos: McIntosh would be handy but again they'd ask for too much for him. We don't want to pay too much for a player who will be 2nd fiddle to Frase.
Melbourne: They have poor ruck depth but Paul Johnson doesn't seem to get much of a go, then again I'm not sure if he's ready to be a senior ruckman.
Port: They wouldn't want to let go Brogan easily with Lade getting on in years.
Richmond: Knobel would be ok but his lack of ability around the ground makes him a bit of a liability.
St. Kilda: Ackland may be an ok 2nd ruckmen perhaps.
Sydney: Sydney have big plans for Doyle.
Bulldogs: Darcy may be coming back but he will go forward with Street and Minson their ruckmen. They are pretty thin in that department.
West Coast: Asides from Gardiner all they have is Cox and Seaby. Seaby might be a good pick up but they won't let him go easily.

so u think our ruck stocks are good?

Fanning- USELESS
Richards- tries but useless

Leaving aside the questionable character of the man;

Gardiners knees are shot.
I could ruck better than him.
He would be just another McKee (a card board cut out ruckman)

Now what do you say?

Agree with Murray. Gardiners days as a ruck are close to over and i dont fancy him as a forward. Better off targeting someone else or Leuenberger(sp?) in the draft.

Richards will make the grade. We should draft the best two young ruckmen available to replace Hall and Walker, and persist with Richards Cam Cloke and T Cloke in the meantime.

Jury is out on Fanning as I dont like delisting young rucks too early in their development, but he has not shown a lot to suggest he's worth keeping.

And he could well slip through to pick 11 or 12

Mckee was a good ruckman, he used to get the ball out of the ruck and feed it out, then that STUPID rule change stuffed his career!!!!

What would people think about going after Carlton's Chris Bryan. Has got a great kick on him and has the body to be crash and bash whilst Fraser can be a finesse tap ruckman and roam forward. Would get him cheap as well I reckon.

I haven't seen enough of him but he is out of favour at Carlton.
